Default AMD will be OK thanks to the new FX-8xxx line-up.

The FX-8350 is the best chip AMD has put out since the original FX series. It's faster than my i5 2500K and costs alot less. People are going to buy these chips in droves making AMD's CPU division solvent once again.

This thread has gone on long enough

The quality of products from AMD are not the only determining factor of sales success and ultimately corporate profit. It really doesn't matter how good AMD's products are because people either don't know about them, or consider AMD a budget brand or unreliable. Market perception>product merit.

No it's not, and no it's not.

Also, the build-your-own market probably makes up less than 5% of AMD's sales.

This HD 6950 may be the last AMD product I ever buy.

This is my confidence in AMD as a business.

That's not really saying much considering how long AMD has been stagnant. The problem was not that Intel is further ahead (this is expected), but rather why AMD was not moving forward. I mean how could AMD even release something like bulldozer in the first place, knowing performance in areas lacked their thuban chips...this just made them fall further behind. Vishera is simply what bulldozer was supposed to be in the first place, and is a temporary band-aid till AMD can get their @#$% together in the mainstream chip race. However, I am happy that vishera is a first step step in the right direction. I especially like the reasonable pricing this time around because as I recall the 8150 was priced similar to the 2600k last year, which was just absurd for its mediocre overall performance. I may sound like I'm just an Intel fanboy bashing AMD, but I am actually really do like AMD, and will be purchasing the 8350/990fx very soon (black friday?) for a personal system since I passed on bulldozer. We need AMD around, or Intel will totally monopolize the chip market.

However I give props to AMD for their APU market, which I expect them to make more revenue than mainstream desktop. Their integrated graphics are coming along nicely, and improving and the genre caters to many people who are not serious gamers, but want the ability to play the occasional game at playable frame rates, without buying a discreet graphics card.

You mean a 4ghz 8350 is faster then the near 3 generation old 4 core 3.3ghz i5 2500k? In multi threaded?

Soon as you overclock that 2500k it is pretty close.. Cheaper and destroys it in everything but Multi threaded.. Seems like a failure on Amd imo...

A near win would be it competing with a 2600k Clock for clock.. but it is not even close.

No, it means that FX8350 is faster than 32nm SB Core i5-i7 and from current generation 22nm Core i5 and sometimes Core i7 in MT loads.

Yep. Ordered mine and waiting for dispatch. They were sold out in Germany. I'll pair it with my two 5870's - should do for a further year or so.

I had to look at the top of my browser. For a second I thought I accidentally clicked AMDzone.

OP is trolling.

The 8350 is faster in multi threaded benchmarks than the 2500K.

Even FX8150 is faster in MT apps than 2500K.

I'm pretty sure this is true, but I'm too lazy to look up benchmarks atm. Regardless I'd still rather have my 2500K.

If it wasn't, AMD would be like Ralph Wiggum proudly proclaiming "I'm peddling backwards!".

Smartazz, I own 2 2500k rigs (see below) and they are great gamers. I also own a FX 8350 rig(see below) and it also is a great gamer, I had a 8150 before and it nipped at the heels of the 2500k but was behind. The 8350 stays with it. That being said you have every right to put pride in the 2500k. It is the ROCK cpu for gaming.

Just cant resist those cherry picked benchmarks can you? As I replied to your similar post in another thread, according to anand bench, 2600K wins in 17 of 25 non-gaming benchmarks and of course destroys the 8350 in gaming.

That's true. The sad trend is that when any new CPU comes out, Intel or AMD, instead of reasoned review, a number of posters take such strident views either way that comparison gets lost in "fighting words" rhetoric.Sad.
