There are number of apps not working correctly on 4.2 right now. Stickmount, Diceplayer, MX player are not working. So if you like to stream movies via SMB shares using Dice or MX player, don't update to 4.2 yet. Both programs just force close. It was the same problem when JB 4.1 was released.

My Nexus 7 just told me 4.2 is ready to install.
It won't let me install though until I recharge the low battery.

I just got pinged for the OTA install.
But since I use GV, should I install it?
Let me rephrase, I use GrooveIP (via GV) to make calls.

I think the bug is just composing text messages. I can send and receive them just fine from existing threads, I just can't create new ones.

Argghh. Confirmed, Dice Player doesn't work.
VLC still works. Sort of. It still an early beta, so it's always been somewhat buggy.

Wth? They removed the haptic feedback from the lock screen unless you check vibrate on touch which vibrates all system buttons. That's dumb if you ask me.
Gesture typing is pretty cool though.

Well, judging from the posts here, including mine, whatever has changed has to do with media playback (video/audio). I was alerted for YouTube update upon 4.2 update completion as well.

Quick toggles for Wifi and Bluetooth and stuff? They work, but you gotta dig like in iOS if you don't use a widget**
|
Two finger pull down on notification bar should give you quick toggles, new feature in 4.2.1.

Got ours last night on both Nexus'. Pretty big changes to the lock screen. Will have to read up on what all changed.

Perfect, Dice Player was updated today for Jelly Bean 4.2. I can confirm it works fine. The developer has only tested it on the Nexus 7 though so far.
I've donated to this guy before, but I think he may deserve some more. Great support.

How is Dice Player? Say, compared to WMP or iTunes on Windows 7. I need something to play .MKV and .FLV files.
P.S. Did not know that VLC is available on Android. How good is it, anyone with experience? I am not a big fan of VLC on Windows, though.

Got it on my Nexus 7 last night. Waited forever (a week) for the last update so I was surprised to get the notification for this one so fast.

Dice player with DTS plugin is the best video player. Plays just about everything. And it will natively stream all your movies on your network computer. It's the best.
Here's the link to DTS plugin and how to add. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1769799

i wish the notification settings pane was customize-able. i'd like to have rotation control there. i'm sure cm10 will add it since they're abandoning their old notification controls in favor of 4.2 style.

VLC on Android is very, very beta. It works, but as far as I can tell doesn't make good use of hardware acceleration with Tegra 3, so HD files may stutter or break up at times. Plus, it's not as full-featured as Dice Player (with the DTS plugin).
I was just using it a bit because Dice Player wasn't working with 4.2... but then just a few hours later Dice Player was updated.
BTW, one feature I really like with Dice Player is the audio-sync setting. Usually you don't need it, but when you do, you can put it ahead or behind the video as needed. The app comes with gesture support on by default, but I just turn it off because I inadvertently use the gestures too often. ie. It's very configurable. And there is even an overlay function, where you can play video in a window on top of Android, although that'd be more useful on something like a Nexus 10.
I just hope Dice Player works equally as well on the Nexus 4, once I'm able to actually get one in my hands.

It's early but it looks like I'm seeing less wakelocks with 4.2 on my Galaxy Nexus. That should improve the standby battery life. So far results are encouraging.

I am seeing the same and was wondering if its reporting is incorrect. I fully charged my Nexus 7 this morning, then downloaded 2 apps (DicePlayer and Rootkeeper). During the lunch hour I transferred one MP3 file (10 MB) via Bluetooth. It's now almost at 6 hours on battery, and it's @98%..?! With Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on?
Even though I used it for like only 10 minutes total but if this stand-by battery life is real I am going to be very happy.
It's very strange because initially I thought it took longer to charge because of the new lock screen containing more information and naturally expected shorter stand-by life.
Edit: It's been 5 hours, not 6. Just went down to 97%.

OK, so I see group texting is now a feature in the 4.2 Messaging app.
Now add it to GV...
