Swapping Monitor 60s with bookshelves? Am I crazy?
My fronts are currently a pair of Monitor 60s. I've had them for a long time now, and I love them. However, due to the room setup, my TV needs to be kitty cornered. I have a bigger TV now, and so the Monitor 60s are pretty squished next to my TV. It's tolerable, but looks pretty silly and forces my TV to be pulled away from the wall a bit.
So I'm considering swapping them with a decent set of bookshelf speakers. That way I could put them under the TV, basically.
I know none of this is good for surround sound, but I don't care too much about the acoustics. It's an open-concept layout to my kitchen and dining room so I am SOL on that anyway. I mostly just watch TV and listen to music so surround isn't a big deal.
I've been out of the home audio game for a while now and not sure what I should consider. I'm looking at Polk because that's what the rest of my speakers are. Would the Monitor 40s be an okay substitution for the 60s? Or a definite downgrade? I do have a subwoofer.
What about the RTi4? RTiA1? Other stuff?
tl;dr Can I replace my Monitor 60s with bookshelves and not hate myself?

No layout drawing handy, but I'm not so much concerned about acoustics as I am sound quality from the fronts. I do have surrounds, but they're I think the lowest end Polk surrounds (they were like $30/pair back in 2005) so not really on par with what I'd look to replace my fronts with.

170 for the pair. If you don't like them, use them as surrounds
The main losses are volume and bass extension.

Hmm, eBay has the RTi4's for $150/pair. I think that's probably a solid choice, especially for the price.

1 5.25 not loud enough.
New series. Don't know if it is better or worse.

If you have to put the speakers under the TV then I'm assuming they are up against the wall to.
You should look for speakers that are meant for on wall. For instance JBL has a decent set-

Otherwise the speakers will sound horrible. Especially with a rear port.
