What is the term for these things

Where the laptop wont turn on but removing the battery and holding the power button till the laptop does some kind of discharge ?

I read about it but never knew what caused it and what it's called.

Also any way to prevent this ? its pretty annoying

The act of holding down the power is called a power cycle or hard reset.

Don't know what's causing it though. Perhaps a corrupted BIOS?

is it still call hard reset when theres no power or battery on it ? what a weird thing, u figure hard reset is when you do a hard reset with the computer on and locked up not when it wont turn on..
