Gaming laptop having internet issue

Hi All,

I've had this problem for quite some time now. I came across the website in hopes of solving this once and for all.

So basically when I try to play a game or web-browse, I will periodically experience a delay in my internet service. I have tried many things:

1.) new modem
2.) ISP came to my residence and replaced internal coaxials
3.) a different cat 5
4.) reinstalled windows

So then I decided to try Event Viewer..
On 11/5 my game decided to work fine, and then on 11/6 it gave me the lagging problem again.

Any ideas? What's going on here?

The "DNS Client Events 1014 None" errors mean that none of your configured DNS servers responded with a result for the URL (web site/server) that your computer requested.

The "SideBySide" errors seem to be an issue with code in a very old version of the Java Runtime environment, and as far as I can tell they can be ignored.

The DNS issue seems to be your main problem. Try changing your DNS server(s) to fast public servers like Google's 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 to see if it resolves the problem.

If you haven't done it recently, you also need to run a comprehensive malware scan to ensure you don't have some sort of DNS changer malware infection.

Are you connecting wirelessly, or through an ethernet port? Also, if connecting via wireless, are you connecting directly to the modem or are you going through a router (if router, provide name/model)?

Have you tried to update the motherboard chipset drivers and ethernet port drivers for the laptop? Also, if you are you running any type of firewall software other than Windows firewall and/or security software, have you tried turning it off or uninstalling it?

Looking at the log you posted, it appears that something is definitely wrong at the network level. The "Customer Experience Improvement Program 1008" error is posted because you are running the Windows Experience Improvement Program applet and it is apparently having problems uploading data to Microsoft. If reinstalling the drivers doesn't fix the problem, either there is a disruption in the DNS server specific to your location (which I would think the techs would have caught when they tested after they replaced the cabling) or your laptop has a fault in the ethernet port.

You didn't say what modem you are using - does the modem have the capability of connecting via a USB connection? Many of them do -- if yours does, try connecting up via USB and see if the problem goes away.

EDIT: If you have already tried to update the Ethernet port driver with the most recent available driver, you might also try uninstalling the driver and going back to an earlier driver.

Next time you experience network lag run a traceroute (tracert) and see if any of the hops have excessive response times or time out completely. If they do, let your ISP know so they can fix it.
