Not for me, I still see trails when scrolling. It may be better than other phones, but I don't have another WP8 phone to compare it to. Nevertheless, coming from a pentile AMOLED display, I am enjoying the IPS display very much.

I must say, the music+video app for WP8 is terrible. It's a good thing Nokia has their own music app.

What's your beef with it? Compared to?

At first I was thinking about upgrading to either the GS3 or Galaxy Note 2 or even the Nexus 4. But The 920 has appeared and seems like a very nice phone. I might have to check one out at a retail store.

I'd say the phone has heft, but considering an iPhone 4/4S (139g) + Otterbox (49g) is 1g more than the Lumia 920 (185g), I think the weight thing is overblown really. People will adjust.

I got one in white. Screen looks awesome. OS is SUPER snappy. Typography really shines on this display like I've never seen before. Customizing the home screen really makes it feel like your own.

However, we need to be honest here, new hardware does not automatically fix the app problem. If you found apps lacking before, they will still be lacking now. But, I think the foundation is finally in the OS to build some really great stuff.

Things I would add:
1) Stronger integration with Windows 8.
2) Messaging app should get Jabber support so that Google Chat can be integrated (learn to play nice with other companies please).
3) Store needs a conceptual and visual overhaul.
4) Notification Center of some sort (OS team has already admitted it).
5) Ability to rent TV shows and movies from the phone (already exists in Windows 8 so what's the deal?)

Regardless though, the hardware foundation is there to make software improvements, so the Lumia 920 should be supported for many years to come.

For those with the phone how does the screen do in sun light? How is the daytime performance of the camera? Any of you have smaller hands or let the wives try it? Was it to bulky to use for those with smaller hands?

It's not really a rumor. There is what clearly is an AT&T-produced video that states exclusivity is 6 months.

I do see Verizon getting a Lumia 930 6 months from now with a Snapdragon S4 Pro.

My initial reaction when I saw the phone was "DAT SCREEEEN!" It really is amazing.

I'm just going to jot down some notes on my thoughts of the phone after a night's and a morning's usage. I'm coming from a year with the Samsung Focus S, a WP7.5 phone.

The store I went to had only black and red available, both of which I was considering. While waiting for a rep, they had a black and white unit on display. The red is gloss like the white, while the black is matte. The white was a fingerprint magnet and felt a bit more slick (only very slightly), so I opted to go for the black. I didn't want to develop OCD about keeping the back of the red gloss clean.

My first impression of the phone was how bad the black levels are compared to the AMOLED from my Focus S. This isn't a surprise, but I hadn't considered it beforehand. I'm already getting used to it I guess. I figured I'd mention this first, because it's the only bad thing I have to say.

As I said earlier, the phone is stout but in no way a detriment. It's no heavier than iPhones with Otter Boxes (those are bulkier, too). My wife carried an iPhone with OB and she's never complained about it being heavy or the shape of a brick. The shape of the phone feels nice in the hand. I'm a bigger guy (6'4") with bigger hands and the ergonomics are pretty good. I honestly didn't think I'd like the screen lock button being placed almost in the middle of the right side of the phone, but it works well and is easy to reach with a right-handed grip. With the curve on the sides and the thickness of the phone, it's comfortable to hold, more comfortable than my Focus S.

Back to screen, when I'm not comparing it to my old phone, the colors look great. They don't "pop" but are bright and true. I turned off automatic brightness and set it to medium. High seems to wash out a bit, medium seems perfect for me. I haven't used it outside in daylight yet, that will occur today. As mentioned before, the black levels are poor IMO, but this is completely subjective and is something I typically look at.

Screen sensitivity is great. It does what I want, when I want it to. Resolution is fantastic, I'm really glad to be back on the 300+ ppi bandwagon. Everything looks sharp, icons and text look great. Even with the increased resolution, the OS is snappy, not a hint of lag anywhere that I've found yet.

The built-in Nokia apps are awesome. Some are already on the phone, others have to be downloaded from the store. These apps are the reason to buy the 920 over any other WP8 device.

Other random stuff. The NFC is kinda cool, the phone comes with a sample NFC tag in the box so you can see how it works. The built-in speakers are pretty damn loud. I always kept the volume at 30/30 on my Focus S but on the 920, I've been keeping it around 24/30 so far and could probably go lower. The built-in Nokia ringtones are almost all stupid sounding, IMO there's not really a good ringtone on the phone. I think the last time I downloaded a custom ringtone was when I had a Nokia 10 years ago, so I guess it all comes around.

Loving the phone, not regretting the purchase one bit. Moving from WP7.5 to WP8 is like having a completely different phone. I know that Microsoft did a great job because there's no way I'd ever be able to go back to WP7.5 after using WP8 just for one night.

I went to the ATT store today to check out the 920. I was very happy to see the employee's trying to sell people the phone. The phone is not as big and bulky as I imagined by the reviews. The screen is very nice the blacks were not as deep as my focus s but I liked the colors better. I brought the winter gloves and the phone worked wonderfully. It was not super precise but I could check text messages, email or make a call easily. They only had black and white in the store. An employee snagged a yellow one it looks much better in person. I was hoping to see a cyan and even red. Since I would be buying out of contract no free plate from ATT but nokia has a promo till end of year. I will wait to thanksgiving weekend to see if there is any specials or any on-line vendors have any specials. I figure I can wait a few more weeks. I was very impressed wth the phone and I am sold it is totally worth the extra 100 dollars over the N4 for me since I stuck on ATT contract for another year. So getting it unlocked was not a big issue for me right now.

Just saw this walmart has the phone for 49.99 with 2 year contract. Does not come with charge plate but still might be able to get one from nokia not sure.

I wish I could get this phone, but I think if I do get a new phone, it will either be the Note 2..... or the Odyssey. I can't imagine going down in screen size from my Nexus.

The 920 looks gorgeous though.

I think the Lumia 920 ends up having more screen area especially when you compare resolutions 1280x768 vs 1280x720 (remember, the more square something is, the more area it has, even if the diagonal is the same length).

i checked this out at the att store today. the front "glass" looks like its plastic and the floor model had fine scratches all over it. also the web browser couldnt render a couple popular web pages properly and resorted to displaying simplified versions of even the mobile sites. on some pages it couldnt do drop down menus properly. that looks like a SERIOUS problem. i like the way the address bar was at the bottom of the browser window though, where its easy to reach. lol that ipad still puts the back and forward buttons at the top left--WHY????

Yah same observation at this AT&T. All the floor models had scratches and swirl marks on the glass. Coming from. Owning 4 iPhones I was really freaked out because I've never seen those types of scratches on an iPhone screen(doesn't mean it's not possible). This is the first phone that I'll be using(or trying to use) a front screen protector.

Anyone scratch their new 920 screen yet?

For what it's worth, I've used my 900 hard - I've dropped it and run over it with my bike, kicked it across the street, etc...while the casing is understandably battered, the screen is still in pristine shape. I have to imagine they didn't downgrade the screen protection on the 920...

Lets hope so! I'm paranoid right now lol. I've never seen swirl mark type of scratches on a phone like that in a lonnng while

Edit: anyone else having a hard time adjusting to the grainyness of the screen? Idk if its just because I've never used anything other than ios but when I'm viewing webpages with white or light backgrounds I really notice it. Its reminiscent of using my iphone right after making a bunch of phone calls and having skin oils all over the screen.

The 920 has Gorilla glass, it's definitely not plastic.

As for the web browser, I've not had much issue with it in WP7.5 and in my little use with WP8 so far, it's MUCH better (speed and formatting). Just curious, what sites did you see this with? I'd like to see if I can replicate it on my 920.

I'm not seeing any graininess on mine. Everything looks good. If it were grainy, I would've noticed by now.

I wonder of those scratches are from either employee's or customers testing out the sensitive screen mode with things like coins or other objects. I have seen videos of people using things like nails to test that mode out.

Dunno. Its definitely there though. Its like the glass has a grain to it and you can see it when you slowly scroll. The words scroll underneath the grainyness. I might go back to the store and compare it more closely to the display models.

I definitely would. Your description is tip-toeing the line of sounding like a defect in your phone.

i just talked to a tech buddy of mine who also just bought one and said he doesn't notice any grainyness either. i showed it to my gf(whos NOT tech savy) side by side with my old iphone 4s and she easily noticed it; though said it wasn't bad enough to bother her.

Edit: well call me crazy. All of the display models at att were the same as mine. Its like the glass itself is grainy. Another analogy would be if you had a screen protector on. How it kind of distorts very fine detail. Have to really be looking for it though.

I noticed the same thing when booting my phone. Definitely grainy on the white att boot screen.
