Fans connected directly to power supply run during Win7 Sleep?

About to do a new build with Antec 300 Illusion Case that has been in the closet for some time. I discovered that the fans all have the large 4 pin power supply connector that doesn't plug into motherboard.

Question: When Win7 goes into Sleep Mode, will these fans that are connected directly to the power supply (Corsair TX650 V2) continue to run?

4 pin fan connectors are backwards compatible with 3 pin headers. There is a notch on the connectors themselves to guide you. If sleep mode turns off the PSU, it will turn off the fans as well.

Yes, pins make no difference they are backward compatible. Plug 'em into the motherboard. What you will lose is control. The 3 pin fans allow the motherboard to monitor the speed of the fan. The fourth line on a 4 pin fan allows the motherboard to control the fan. The connectors of both are keyed so that you cannot plug a 3 pin fan into a 4 pin motherboard connector incorrect.

Sorry, I wasn't more specific.

The 4 pin connectors on the fans are NOT the ones that will plug into 3/4 pin fan headers on motherboard. They are much larger and the same style as the ones that plug into PATA hard drives and DVD Drives.

Question is whether the 4 pin connectors (ones that provide power to PATA HDD and DVD drives) from power supply shut down when computer goes into sleep mode.

You're confusing with the usual 4 pin connector that most fans use with molex power connector that does come with some fans. The fan you mentioned has no speed control whatsoever and it will run at 100% speed all the time since its power comes directly from the PSU.

If sleep mode shuts off the PSU, the fan will turn off as well.
