I’ve found (stereotyping) that skinny pretty women are usually more stuck up, full of themselves, and more spoiled. Whereas, chubby women are friendlier, easier to talk to, and just more fun to be around. As for pleasing to the eye; well it just sort of depends what you like and your environment. In years past, larger women were the women of choice. Their larger size showed their wealth (could afford more to eat), and their size (large hips) also showed that they were able to have children easier. In the renaissance age large women were in. It appears with all the obesity, that large women are making a comeback. Perhaps it’s because there are not that many skinny women left. I much prefer to lay my head on soft real 44DD’s than 34A’s.

White guys prefer skinny. Black guys don't like skinny.
For me I like in between. I've even known women who looked chubby with clothes on but once they came off all that extra weight was in all the right places.
Long story short. It's all pink on the inside and standards and desires don't get you laid.

White guy here, I don't like "skinny" girls.
If i can see ribs or they have scary skeleton/scarecrow arms it is a 100% turn off.
I don't mind thin, just not emaciated.

From a purely evolutionary perspective, carb-and/or-fat rich food sources weren't plentiful, stable, or reliable enough, nor regular physical exertion levels low enough, for anyone to become obese and dumpy for about...ohh...197K of the last 200K years.

Chubby women used to be regarded as more desirable as they were more likely to survive childbirth. The fat is there (up to a point) to increase survival rates in adverse conditions. So it wasn't just chubby women, but a bit chubbyness in general which is/was a good thing.
The media can take a significant portion of the blame. Having women chase something unobtainable is a good way to keep selling them stuff that they don't need.
I suspect the upper classes also had something to do with the idea of chubby women being less attractive, if one considers the amount of stupid practices involving womens' looks. In Japan, binding womens' feet so they looked smaller. Corsets also. I can't think of others at present. The upper classes would have been less concerned with survival rates because their environment would have been to their advantage to begin with (better sanitation, food, etc). Then along comes the middle class, and wannabe middle class and wannabe upper class... suddenly most people want something pretty similar.
The person who said that wealthy women were generally fat is wrong AFAIK - a lot of food that typically makes you fat has always been cheaper than good quality food. A poorer family would try to make the most of an animal they've bought/raised for food. A wealthier family may also eat poorly so they end up being fatter, but they're more likely to go for more select cuts of meat and make less good use of an animal raised for slaughter.
The 'chubby' picture is debatable. Perhaps if the same woman had her picture taken standing straight and the shot taken from the side or straight on, rather than using her arm to potentially hide 'chubbyness'.
Personally I want a woman who takes pride in her figure and keeps in shape physically (though I want a woman to have woman's legs, not a teenager's legs). Now I just need to keep up my end of the bargain

She isn't really "chubby", unless you're blind or from Dachau.
She just has an ugly, wide Chipmunk face with puffy cheeks

The updated 'chubby' image is as unhelpful as its predecessor.

Exactly. What matters is WHERE the fat is. Some women can be pretty damn heavy and still look attractive. I would guess the same is true for men as well.
It's possible to be slightly overweight and look absolutely horrible. This is especially true when wearing clothes that don't fit properly.
I voted skinny girls. I love the small and cute ones like Audrey
Natalie Portman could have the same look if here smile were a little different.
Zooey knows how to work the cute look

Because I, as the sole arbiter of sexual desire, have decreed it be thus, only thus, and ever thus.
Wait.... no. Scratch that.

Who are attracted to is partly based on preference and the culture you grew up in.

Bones are for dogs, meat is for man.
Not a fan of slim/petite women at all (kind of a turn off). Nick and thick please (not chubby/or fat) but good hour glass figure.

I think it has to do with genetics and that it is part of human instinct. If you take a second to think about it, there are little to no diseases associated with being skinny but being fat can cause a whole host of problems.
