WD touted the following main points

Configurable Time Limited Error Recovery (TLER), with a default of 7 seconds
IntelliPower disk rotation speeds (comparable to Green drives)
Vibration reduction mechanism in hardware

Here's my take on these. 5400RPM (no matter how much WD touts their "IntelliPower") with high platter density makes it good for mass storage, not for running stuff off. TLER makes it suitable for NAS and RAID. Longer warranty than Green/Blue, with higher MTBF may (or may not) indicate higher build quality. Also, no irritating constant head parking like other 5400RPM drives.
Come to think of it... it is like a 5400RPM version of the WD RE ("RAID Edition" enterprise drive).
