Default Best way to go about wake on LAN (over the internet)?

Whats the best way to go about wake on LAN (over Internet)? How do you set it up? How do you shut down so that you can wake it? Do you have to sleep it?

Welcome to the world without Clouds. Nothing easier that WakeMeOnLan. Enjoy your new access of your data from your machine 24/7. Lot's of tutorials out there, but I always found this from dd-wrt the best.
