The 47% win. Romney was right all along
Looks like many of those folks getting checks in the mail will continue to get paid.
Waiting for my upside down house to be paid off and waiting on my free money....I'm waiting!
For consideration: A small sample area, the District of Colombia was over 90% blue. I wonder if it's a coincidence that it's also one of the highest populations per capita on welfare....hmmmm. On the other end of the population scale California is the state WITH the highest welfare paid out....hmmm.

You can't be serious. Are you trying to say that "blue" states parasites on "red" states...?

No, he's saying that true to the sayings by Alexis de Toqueville.
Quote:
“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”

No, I'm saying that many of the votes were driven by those individuals who want to continue with welfare....unchecked welfare. The other reasons being pitched by the Obama campaign really didn't matter to many who get those checks every week. Give me my free income and I'll vote for whoever/whenever regardless of what the countries problems are. Debt be damned....give me my money! Constitutional rights eroded....give me my money!
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money to spend."
....Not a big deal we'll just redistribute wealth.

Conservatives brought this on yourselves. Getting bush in office for 8 years essentially stained your party for decades to come. I think any close election will go democrat because of the fear of another GW travesty.

Which is why those on welfare shouldn't get the vote. Voting should be a priveledge in those types of cases, because then you get this.

I hate to break it to you but I'm not a Republican and welfare was started by Democrats and has been ramping up since the 1970s. It's a career choice for many that is passed to their children. Now our federal government fosters it and as we'll see most likely was a very large part of buying votes.
We will see four more years of stagnation and continued government intervention in everything ranging from drinking soda to paying welfare. Both the Senate and House will fold their arms and stare at each other in protest for four more years. Our president? He will continue to not have any luck getting both sides to play together and when he doesn't get HIS way he'll sign another executive order. He'll continue with the same agenda to forget or forego the Constitution of the United States and keep growing a larger and larger weed of a big government which will choke out what ideals this country was founded on. Our founding fathers would be so proud.
Welfare does buy a lot of votes.

Simple....they paid into it. Good luck having it available when you need it when you're old. For the record I don't believe in either program.
Welfare, that's a different animal. We all pay for that.

So you're talking about direct aid?
I'm for workfare over welfare, but you've got to understand what the alternatives to welfare are...
more crime, civil unrest, less opportunity for children, homelessness
The number one demographic for direct welfare is children.

I would agree it definitely needs some work.
I think people on welfare whom are able bodied should be doing one of three things in order to receive their check:
1. Learning new job skills, possibly subsidized by the govt
or
2. Volunteering for a public works project, 8hrs per week, AND be actively job-seeking.
or
3. Working for a child day-care system, to support the able-bodied single moms that need it for options 1 and 2, and possibly when they find skilled work and/or consistent work.

In Germany after a certain amount of time you do things like pick grapes or do road work for a check if you are jobless.

The reason that you have so much welfare is that the country was brainwashed by the elite that getting ones hands dirty or working at a factory should be beneath you because someone in Mexico or China can do it for less as well as illegal immigrants doing work Americans won't do,
Now more and more Americans require government assistance who never did before and after you are on it for a while like a drug or alcohol it becomes addictive,
and politicians capitalize on it because it is far easier to hand out free money than fixing the fundamental flaws in this country like unfair trade policies which lead to continuous good job losses.

Look, another stupid fuck who believes that 47% of the people get welfare in this country. OP is just butthurt over last night. While I'll agree that welfare is a huge issue in the US, the 47% comment is completely baseless.
I'll say what I've been saying for years....keep shipping jobs out of this country....good paying jobs....and you'll end up with 47% of the people falling below the "FEDERAL TAXATION" line. Keep doing it after and you'll end up with more than 47% ACTUALLY on welfare as the foundation (middle class) crumbles letting the entire building (US) fall.

Agreed and well put....
I would add that government regulation and intruding also have contributed greatly to running work out of this country as well.

I find it funny that the OP works for the government or directly benefits from it and he's talking shit about other people living off of government checks!!
News flash dumbass! You are one of the 47%ers! Your house is upside down? Did you take advantage of the HAMP program to take advantage of lower interest rates with no costs to you? No? Then that makes you an idiot as well as a leach! Do you feel like a piece of shit like the people you are talking about who take checks from the government? No? Well now you are also a hypocrite.
Does anyone on the right have a fucking brain any more?

I don't know about you, but I don't want to stop welfare and have a large ravenous pack of homeless and hungry people bringing down the infrastructure in all major cities...leading to much bigger problems...
There is much more to this topic...endless amounts infact.

I can see by your eloquent response how mature you are and observant. You do seem to be making a lot of assumptions aren't you? I've earned every penny I've ever made. I'm not on welfare and I don't have a house that's upside down as I was applying a bit of rhetoric to my initial example. In fact, I have no house payment, no car payment and I receive a military pension while "gasp" holding another job. I earned that....big difference.
If you think the average career welfare recipient didn't vote for more free handouts regardless of anything else and that this wasn't at least some part of the Presidents strategy then your brain seems to be malfunctioning.
I'm not totally against welfare. I am against the way it's implemented now. I think I've already stated this.

And I see that you are ignorant and a liar. Do you or do you not work for the government (ie military) or do you benefit directly from the government? Yes, yes you do, therefore my tax dollars pay your salary the same way my tax dollars pay for welfare. You asked if the government was going to pay for your house that is under water and now you are saying your house is paid off, so either you are lying or your house isn't under water (no mortgage = not under water).
With regards to welfare, it is a known fact that the majority of welfare recipients come from red states and therefore more likely to be republican. 2nd the average person is on welfare for about a year with a small percentage going back on Welfare within the next 10 years. 3rdly, california pays out the most in food stamps because it has the largest population and it was hit pretty hard from the housing bubble. Lastly, food stamps which cost around 80 billion a year brings in $1.17-$1.47 for every dollar spent.

Do you see any change from current policy coming with another four years? In other words do you expect jobs to return to the country or do you see stagnation in that regard or what?
I see further implementation of policies based on taking from those that have to give to those that don't - or won't. The jobs situation is just something that will have to work itself out. I mean, I guess we can spend some more on solar technology in hopes of more jobs even though it's a technology that is not yet ready for prime time. Other than that, the impetus so far has been to expand the safety net. I see no change coming in that regard. Despite a lot of lip service, jobs have been not even on the radar the last four years.

That is not welfare. That is money that wad taken from them without choice by the Feds to allow some support in old age when they were TOLD that they had to stop work. Medicate is their insurance policy that they pay for every month. Just like a person in the work force.
However, their raises are politically controlled and based on artificial numbers. If they get a "second" job, it cuts the SS payment.
If you take a second job, does your primary employer take half off what you make at the second job?

Again you make assumptions and are rude about it.
Should I work for free because my job is associated with government. Take note of the word WORK. In fact, my pay check doesn't come from the government if you really must know. If you a referring to my military pension, then yes, I receive money from the government...I fucking earned it. When I was a GI did I not pay taxes? Do I not pay taxes now? What in the hell are you even talking about?
Regarding the house; if you don't understand satire then get a dictionary or remain an internet tough guy. I don't have a mortgage; I actually paid cash for my house. So yes, (no mortgage = not under water). I don't really give a shit if you believe me or not.
I don't give a shit about what party someone is aligned with who accepts welfare as their sole means of income. I do care when it becomes a life long career which is indeed the case for too many and is fostered by the US government. It's also important to note that many of those individuals receiving your tax dollars aren't even American citizens.
Are you advocating for welfare as it's implemented now? For God's sake please don't align the State of California with one of your speaking points....bad example but relevant to my point.
