Opinions in video card choice

Hi everyone, I am building my son a new gaming PC for Christmas and feel pretty confident about all the hardware except the video card. I think I have decided on the EVGA 02G-P3-1568_KR GTX 560 Ti 2GB GDDR5 from Microcenter for 209.99.Do you think this is this the right card for the money and do I need to worry about it being pci 2.0 and not 3.0? He plays online FPS games.

Here are the specs on most of the hardware the hardware:

i5-3570k
ASRock Z77 Extreme 4
gskill Ripjaws 8gb
Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler
WD Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM

That isn't a bad price on a 560Ti 2GB, but there really isn't much reason to buy a 560 Ti today, because newer cards offer better performance at the same price.

Here are two options at $210:

Unless you or your son has a very strong preference for Nvidia, I'd recommend either of the HD7870 models over the GTX660, as they will be slightly faster. Either would offer the benefits of PCIe 3.0, although with this level of card, it will not make a difference.

Thanks for replying, I gave my son my PC that I built in 2005 and it has 2 6600gt's in SLI. He's been playing on it for about 2 years now and it does a surprisingly good job for its age, just long load times which could be the AMD x2 3800 or 1 gig of ram. He plays games like crossfire on steam. I've had good experiences with nvidia but I guess I could give AMD a try.

I'd agree 7870 or GTX660. Although I think the 670 is best nVidia card and a 7950 is the best AMD card for the time being.
