Suzuki to Stop Selling Cars in the US
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/...kkB46Z6cHmzGvz
IMO this is too bad. I think Suzuki makes a decent car. My dad has an 8 year old Suzuki SL7, and that car has been great to him, no issues, tows his big boat around, nice comfortable ride.
Suckage

They still sell cars in the US? I thought they stopped years ago.

yeah, they're not selling well, only 21,000 cars sold YTD, but they seem to be decent rides. I test drove one a couple years ago and liked it.
Anytime the marketplace loses a player and there's less competition, it's a bad thing for the consumer.

I didn't know they still were. I see a Grand Vitara every once in a while, but they look like older vehicles.

Their Kizashi was a good looker. But I would never buy a Suzuki. A bike, maybe, but a car? Hell no.

They need to focus on the emerging markets.

The dealer here closed up over a decade ago. I haven't seen a Suzuki car on the road in almost as long.
Just checked out their website, never even knew they built pickups. Do they advertise at all?

I've seen a commercial or two for the Kizashi, but that's about it.

We briefly looked at the SX4. Too bad they dropped out, the market needs more rather than fewer choices.

Their pickup is a rebadged Nissan frontier I believe. They seem to be pretty popular here in salt lake, seem to see a lot of the aerios around. If you check the newspaper ads on Sunday they always seem to use the cheapest new car you can get angle.

Does this mean no more X90 vehicles? Who wouldn't want to take the worst part of a jeep and the worst part of a convertible and combine them into one car.

Isuzu dropped out in the late 90's also

Noooo I was looking at a EVO so I could put a park bench on the trunk and use a coffee can as my muffler to impress the homies.

Shame... I really did love my little 2006 SX4, that car had great handling for being built for light off-road.
...When it wasn't in the shop for repair.
I had to replace the front rotors (warped if I looked at them), replace the small block (spun a rod bearing) and finally had the heating coil go out during the COLDEST week of the winter. Over 80k miles at trade in, but a lot of those miles were marked with problems. There is a turbo kit and other go-fast parts for it provided by Road Race Motorsports, but that place is full of tool bags from my experience.
Bad reliability + Crappy advertising + Douche 3rd party support = where's a Subaru dealer?
Sad to see them go, but not the least bit surprised. :-/

Huh? The Evo is their best car, period. Everything else seems like a half-baked effort in car design.

I've driven many SX4s and Grand Vitaras. They're okay. I find the GV is a bit underpowered. SX4 is okay if you can get used to the drone of the CVT. They've got a decent engine for their size. Not the best on gas though. Problem is Suzuki always wanted too much for them, even for just the FWD version. They start at almost $18k for the base model, which really is a base model. You can get something comparable for $4000 less.

Ignorance is bliss my friend. The Evo is one of the best cars ever to come to the us market. Few cars are as capable and as practical

Small Japanese car makers are having a hard time competing with the big 3 Japanese car makers.

The mechanics at the dealerships think they're awful. Suzuki is also ridiculous to deal with on warranty work.
