Insurance rates
After seeing Ferzerp's thread on how much people are paying for insurance and their deductibles, it got me thinking on how much everyone else pays? I pay quite a lot more and my cars aren't even new
Full coverage through USAA with a low $100 deductible + Homeowners insurance about 15-20 dollars per month of the cost:
98 Honda Accord (1 accident) and a 2008 Honda Civic Si = $220 per month
How much is everyone else paying?

As mentioned before, $250/$500 deductible full coverage on a 911 4S runs me $47 in Illinois.

I haven't paid over 60/month for anything I have driven in years.
if my insurance premiums start equating to what a car note costs, either I am making some serious coin and don't care, or I need to sell the car.
with insurance, it isn't all about the premium, it's more about the amount of coverage. "full coverage" doesn't mean jack, just means you carry collision.... from my experience, that doesn't mean you have enough coverage.
personally I don't see having extremely low deductibles ( <$500). Would you really go through your insurance for a 200-300 buck claim with a $100 deductible? You just running the risk of increasing the number of claims and thus increasing the risk to the insurance company, which could equate to higher premiums.
Insurance is one of those things that needs to be addressed for the individuals needs. your location can have a hug impact on your premiums and your needs vs mine could be vastly different.

in comparison to your cars, I insured a 98 protege (just liability) for $18/month, a 2004 nissan 350z 48/month, 2009 odyssey 47/month, 2006 mitsu evo 56/month this is with a few riders that added some to the premium, but overall, I would say you are paying enough if you don't have increased coverage on you auto policy. I would look at what the difference in premium is raising your deductible. are you carrying collision on your '98 accord? what is it worth compared to the difference in premium costs?

Today
Single - 28, no accidents counting against but don't have safe driver discount for another yeaer. Additionally I have condo insurance through this company providing an additional discount.
08 Honda Accord - $1,050 a year for full coverage - $100k, $300k and uninsured coverage - deductibles are $100, $500.
Tomorrow i place an order for a 2013 Audi S4. Same coverage will bring me to $1,250 a year.

Full coverage generally means collision + comprehensive + uninsured motorist

Why would you have full coverage on a 1998 Accord?
That said, I pay $900 a year for a 2009 Camry, $500 deductable broad form collision ($0 if not my fault), $0 deductable for comprehensive.

Current car is 2006 Mazda 3 with $100/300k just liability, $1000 deductible for $54/month.
New car will be 2013 Focus ST with $100/300 Full coverage, $1000 Deductible for $110/month.
Funny part about this is if I keep my current car and insure both, it only goes up like $30 per year. I wonder if that's BS though. I confirmed when they told me that, but still sounds odd.
I'm 30, male, clean record in CA.

Well yeah, but that's a pretty crazy discount. Basically insure one car, get the second free.

When I had two cars, adding the second (a Miata) only upped the cost by like $70 for the entire year.
I sold the previous car and now I'm at about $600 for the year for the Miata. Should drop more soon once I take off comprehensive at the end of the year.

$14/month for the motorcycle. Reasonable coverage limits, uninsured/under-insured included, but no comp or collision.
Fiancee's car is $73/month, but that's with ridiculously high coverage limits.

We pay $200/month for renters, CTS-V and Altima. It's for a $500 deductible, vehicle replacement on the V and $500k combined per accident. It's higher in Atlanta due to uninsured motorists, traffic and the higher theft rate.

Wife and I have a '97 Saturn SL1 and a 2000 Saturn SL, both of us covered, liability and uninsured motorist only (no collision / comprehensive), 100/300 on both liability and UIM (way above state minimums which I think are 25/50). $358 for 6 months for both of us = ~$60 a month for 2 cars, 2 people, both 32 years old, nothing major on either of our driving records. Been with Progressive for over 10 years now so get "Emerald Coverage" which includes major accident forgiveness.
Only deductible is $250 on the UIM Property damage coverage ($25,000). $0 deductibles on any liability or UIM Bodily Injury claims, they pay out from the first dollar. (Can't even find where I can change this in my policy?)

It's because you can only drive one car at a time = can only get into a wreck with one car at a time. If you had a second driver on the policy, it would go up more.
Premiums are based more on the driver, not the car. Yeah you will see a correlation with the price of the car with comprehensive and collision coverage, but basic liability insurance doesn't change much from car to car, and liability is where stuff gets expensive. Even a new Mazda3 only checks out around $25k max, while hospital bills can run in the $100,000's easy.

I recommend the comprehensive. It's very cheap to get, and is REALLY nice to have if someone breaks into/steals your car.
