Stereo Times reviewer holding my $80k power cables for ransom
He is a reviewer for Stereo Times Magazine. I sent him many expensive power cables so he could review them. They took half a year to build, and many years to design, and also cost me $100 to ship them from Sweden to USA, they are very heavy, approx 20 lbs. I sent everything to him for free, he has not paid anything.
After two months he still refuses to send them back if I don't pay hundreds of dollars to him, claiming his old tubes died from my cable. When he switched from my cable to his old cable, the tubes blew, and he says my cable was responsible. Everyone I asked is saying it's not possible and he's trying to scam me.
I need someone who can pick-up these cables at Overland Park, KS 66085. If you live nearby, PM me.
This farce has gone on long enough.

Now if only this could happen to all of the snake oil in the Audio business... maybe one day we'd have just actual products being sold!

What exactly makes these power cables worth as much as a brand new Audi S6? Serious question.

It's most likely going to be civil and not criminal. Unless the OP is willing to come over for a trial they aren't going to do anything anyways.

Only $100 to ship them. Are you sure you did the translation to USD correctly? I'm sure proper shipping insurance on 80k is at least $500-1000. Secondly, unless they are dipped in gold and make your breakfast, this is just stupid.

I'm impressed you actually managed to troll people with something so completely absurd. These were prototypes for Monster, right?

If they were in my possession I would be taking several hundred pics. I'm good at taking pics. I would wax the power cables too.

Yeah I agree not smart on the OP's action. If I were him I would not send out my expensive cables.. Nobody can touch them cause I don't want them to put finger print on them. Also some dirt can get on the cable too which I do not tolerate.

Monster is scam, but the other brands such as Audioquest, Kimber, Nordost, Wireworld, Synergistic Research, Ridge Street Audio, etc are not. They do make real serious cables and cause huge difference sonically.

So you gave $80K USD cables to a reviewer and now want them back? What does the contract say? I am more than willing to give over $80K to someone without a contract in place because that is smart! /sarcasm.

Nordost Vishnu was the first aftermarket power cable I owned, the next was Valhalla ($3000). This was a decade ago, they are beginner cables. I ended up at Virtual Dynamics Judge ($50,000). Then I started building my own cables using the same technology for lower prices and better sound!

LOL. First LOL at anyone who thinks these cables make any difference at all, and the second LOL at the idiot reviewer and anyone else who thinks speaker wire caused a tube to blow.

I do agree that an $80K power cable is snake oil -- and unlikely to "work" any better than a properly-made $20 cable. But that's irrelevant here. If the reviewer makes false claims about the cable having damaged his vacuum tubes (highly unlikely, esp. given that it was the old cable in place when the damage happened) and then effectively holds it "hostage" to extort money from the builder, then the reviewer seems to be at fault. This of course assumes that the agreement was to return the cable after the completion of the review process.

So how do these magical power cables work... you have your own SQ generator too that they hook directly into, right?

Please tell me more about how they break the laws of physics.
Any power cable up to spec will work just as any other power cable.

Nothing can break the laws of physics. But the laws can be incomplete, which makes them wrong. Someone said that it was like the laws of physics were overwritten, nobody can explain why it sounded better. Physicists discover new things every day.

The publisher of Stereo Times said that I will get my cables back ASAP. He is talking to the reviewer now.
