WTF? Asrock releases new AGP board based on Intel 865G
ASrock 775i865G R3.0
Just to be sure it is actually a new board, the only BIOS (first revision) is dated 8/6/2012. Even the user manual is dated (in document properties) July 2012. And its available from Newegg. WTF?
Calling VirtualLarry! You were wanting an i865 AGP motherboard that supported Conroe (and Kentsfield) to be available in the USA. Granted, that was like three years ago! lol

Doubting they made it "just for the heck of it". Probably capitalizing on a board built for a specific customer. God knows there are plenty of 3-4 yr old boards out there with rotting swollen caps that people will pour money into to keep running

Funny, but I think they have just some older boards in stock so they fixed bios and put them to sale for AGP enthusiasts.
I had dozens of AGP stuff at home, but I sold all that earlier this year.

It also has serial ports, IDE, and parallel ports. This could actually be useful for a lot of applications.

You can get extension cards or replicators when you missing LPT, or serial ports or IDE, I don't have serial and LPT present on the rear panel, but pins for extensions are present.

I moved and threw out a bunch of old stuff.
Sometimes you collect enough to build a web surfer for giveaway. Or do a resurection.
Seriously, a Celeron G dual core and a cheap H61 motherboard beats all old stuff.

Yeah, I saw that last week. Was wondering about where that one came from. I thought it was new old stock, not a new release.
If they're going to finally release that board here in the states, then what about that 785G Socket 939 board they made? Huh, c'mon ASRock?
Edit: Decided to order one, before they become unavailable.
Interestingly, they list an E5900 (R0) 3.40Ghz dual-core CPU in the CPU support list. I didn't know Intel made an E5900.

That is one crazy ass motherboard,how the hell is it even considered a 865g chipset if its supporting core 2 duo?
Only processors that make the most sense in such a board are 800fsb chips since the fastest memory supported is ddr400....1066fsb chips would be hampered by ddr 400.
Interesting board,would be fun for someone with a 775 chip sitting around and perhaps a older agp card like a 9700 pro or 6800gt.

LGA775 C2D is still FSB with Netburst roots. Pretty sure early chipset revisions couldn't support some extra signaling lines/pins required for C2D, nor probably even for Presler. Or possibly it was just implementation (e.g. VRM spec) on the board that was lacking on earlier 865/875 boards. Or a combination of both. Most 865/875 boards that were launched/designed several months before C2D couldn't support them.

Just a note for anyone considering this board. Most of these ASRock 865G boards that support C2D, REQUIRE CAS 2.5 memory DDR-400. Most "Value" DDR-400 is CAS 3. You need the Kingston HyperX 400A kits, or something equivalent. I have some of that stuff stockpiled.

Only for 1066FSB (not C2D dependent) and you also need a graphics cards to disable the integrated video.

Yeah, that's the issue with re-purposing today...You can buy that $15-20 H61 motherboard and a celeron dual core and for $60 you have a machine that is really powerful compared to anything old and sips power. Its hard to justify spending ANY money to get an old cpu up and running now. Hell, even new memory is so cheap it barely adds to the entry cost.
I actually wouldn't mind having a modern board with AGP on it for some legacy fun. The trouble is everything else on this board is legacy and I don't even have any DDR anymore, nor am I interested in acquiring any.

For bang of the buck, G530,4GB ADATA and MSI H61 board, the setup for around $100 will kick the hell of a 3 years old top-end C2D, and for fraction of power consumption and heat generation, architectures like sandy bridge made everything older very much obsolete, so unless you have old machine for some special easy work and you only need to replace one part so be it, but otherwise there is no sense in getting these things.

Wow I didnt think we were even still making the 865 chipset. I am a little shocked that they feel that there is the demand for a 865 board. I think it was about 6 months ago that I through out about 4 IDE hard drives because I was sick of having them on the shelf.

voodoo 3 is AGP 2x 3.3v only,
this motherboard is AGP 1.5v only... so it's not going to work, without some serious modifications like this guy did
