Well first of all, night is somewhat of a clue, as we can predict darkness of an inevitable sign of night. But given the size of the USA, that stretches over so many timezones, it may be night on the east coast while its still mid-afternoon in Honolulu.
And even after they close the polling places on the east Coast, people will still have a few remaining hours of voting on the West Coast. But still the people on the East Coast of the USA always lead the country, because they always are the first to achieve that status of the morning hours of the very next day. Which in this thread question happens to be 12:01 AM November 7, 2012.
