Default Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 i5-2450M $350 AR

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834310530

$100 MIR: http://images10.newegg.com/uploadfil...Sep312cx61.pdf

15.6" LED 1366x768 5.73 lbs.
Intel Core i5-2450M 2.5-3.1GHz HD3000
6GB DDR3 1333MHz
500GB 5400RPM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
1 x HDMI, 3 x USB 2.0, 1 x eSATA / USB combo
Intel 1000 802.11 b/g/n Bluetooth 2.1
6-cell lithium ion, up to 4.5 hours

Getting an i3 for this price is a pretty good deal...so I figured an i5 is a hot deal. Even if you don't get the rebate the price looks OK.

If it didn't have the optical drive and a smaller form factor I'd be all over this.

Can someone comment on this machine and compare it to the ASUS K55a which I picked up at Best Buy this week for $480?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus---1...&skuId=5908238

Build quality and performance (including the admittedly limited GPUs) are my main interest.

Thanks.

The Asus uses the newer 3rd gen processor which comes with better integrated graphics as well (HD4000 vs. 3000). The 3rd gen stuff is faster, runs cooler and should consume less power (so less battery life). Asus is a pretty solid brand so durability should be similar. Both have same screen resolution. I say yours should be worth the extra price especially since this one has a rebate.

How'd you get it for $480?

I need a new laptop. I was a little concerned with getting an Asus serviced but I like their computers. That Asus must be dual core I-5 or they would be plastering quad core all over the ad. Nice computer though

Ugh. I thought this was the same thing, but the GPUs are different. The one I got is this one: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+1...&skuId=5720766

Most of the specs look identical to me.
