Default AMD reportedly to delay launch of desktop Trinity to October

Quote:
AMD has reportedly postponed the launch of its Trinity processors for desktop platforms from August to October in order to make some adjustments to the processors' designs. Downstream motherboard makers are also rushing to make adjustments to their new motherboard projects set to release in the second half, according to sources from motherboard makers.

They are likely talking about high volume launch, while allowing limited sales to happen. When I bought my H67 board few days after Sandy Bridge launch, I got it off from a guy that bought it 7-10 days before.

It's a largely pointless CPU to begin with so I guess not much people is missing that much.

I assume from the article that its CPUs and boards to build yourself. OEMs might be affected as well. Guess its GloFos lack of ability to manufactor that strikes again. And AMD just focus on mobile chips with the highest margin first.

It was obvious for along time now that they waited with FM2 to do that. They just didnt cancel the AM3 earlier like other CPUs. But not sure if they are doing themselves a bear favour there. Pilediver FX vs Steamroller APU.

The sources also pointed out that after October, many AMD-based CPUs with different sockets will be available in the market including AM3, AM3+ (Vishera), FM1 (Llano), FM2 (Trinity) and FT1 (Brazos 2.0).
They are releasing new chips that will work on older AM3 boards?
