57*F outside and raining. With the windows closed and all 5 machines chugging along, it reached 79*F inside and the air conditioner turned on. Ouch.

20 hours of crunching and only ~25% done. WOW, I'd forgotten how long these wu's take.

Only dumped 6 WUs. Bionic decided to start another WU when it reached 99.898 %! I'm assuming that's a feature and not a bug.

no kidding! Just dumped another 8 WU's into the pot...
Ten, actually, and all of the crunchers listed are actually working on challenge WU's now, too. Due to the timing and how some of the rigs were remote, some of them got kicked off on Friday with small queues that they have finally completed...

I should have a bunch of updates shortly.
One of my machines went crazy with suspending WU's last night. I think it started and suspended about 10 of them at between 20%- 70%. Once those flush it will be nice. I'll let it do its thing and keep a closer eye the last 24 hours of the race.

OH NO! My 960T machine (5 cores) just died. Got in the shower and came out and the whole condo has a horrible burning metal smell. Reminds me of when I worked in a tool & die shop in HS.
Well, the 960T machine isn't running and the smell from it is horrible.
Opened it up and UGH. Tried to fire it up and the CPU fans made a twitch and then NOTHING.
This machine was running the horrible GA-78LMT-S2P rev 4.0 board from microcenter. It's only 3+1 phase and I did have one of these do the same thing to me not too many months ago, so I am assuming it is the mobo. Once the race is over I will see exactly what component failed.
I had such a mild overclock on this thing too. It handled all the other DC projects just fine.

This project is killer! *rimshot*
Seriously though, booo Sorry to hear that. Are you going to keep doing the returns to MC? Glad that your place didn't start on fire or anything, that's more than a little scary.

Haha, go you How is that 3930K fairing? Well, I bet
Intel based rigs are tearing this thing up.
I finally got connected to my dads PC which had 16 WU's waiting for upload, hence my stats jump.
The 2600k is just bossing my Thubans around... It is maybe ~15% faster on each WU, and it is doing eight at a time to boot. With ~70% of the power.
Who said ISA didn't make a difference? AVX clearly (? I think ?) changed the balance of power here, is BD using it yet? PD should bring more AVX support, I believe...

No, I am not going to return it. I OC'd it and knew I was taking a chance doing so. Lesson learned on using a cheap board.
Now I have to decide if I want to replace anything on this machine or not. New mobo is $100+. Do I go with another amd combo for ~$200 instead and get a bit faster cpu? Too bad the i5 combo's are so expensive.

I hear you. Heck, you almost are better off buying another freaking 960t, getting the Gigabyte 8+2 board and then selling the sealed 960t on the forums. I bet that would be the best bang for your buck, but it seems a little silly to have to go through that much trouble.
Looked around on Amazon, a couple months ago I scored a couple UD3 870 AM3+ boards for $85 w/prime. Not seeing anything like that on there right now... Has to be a good deal out there, somewhere...

I have to say this is one of the more exciting races, with folks bouncing all over the place.
That is something I didn't expect, given the glacial pace that WU's are done in. My 1045t has a batch of WU's that are taking ~40 hours to complete! Then it has a couple now that it thinks will be done in 15! Each WU being worth so many points... Fun when looking at the standings, super boring looking at BOINC

We've got some serious challengers, but so far we're still sixth.
Juggling may not be so easy when the WUs are so variable.

Hey guys, I've compiled some data from WU's completed so far. I think the "turn off HT" advice is ill founded! Please take a look and let me know if you have better data or other insights
For my data sampling, I simply took the most recently completed WU from each rig, no cherry picking or anything.

ok, I know it's a bit late in the game, but I'm in for one round of WUs on my main rig's X6 1045T.
Btw, the price on those CPUs has dropped to $100 now at MC.
Edit: Well, maybe, I haven't gotten any Reisel LLR WUs when I hit Update, but I got a bunch of CUDA stuff.
Edit: Nevermind, I got some.
