I have an older PC (2.8ghz P4 HT) that does not have a pci-e slot. I wanted to be able to watch HD videos somewhat so I ended up finding an Radeon HD 2600 agp card. I used the latest Windows XP hotfix because the regular drivers would not even detect the card.
The problem is, is that there seems to be hardware interrupts occurring, causing 100% cpu usage and crippling performance.
I've scoured the internet and have found that it seems to be the MS UAA HD audio driver that is causing the problem. As soon as I disable the driver, everything goes back to normal. I have a separate sound card for sound. I can't seem to resolve this.

I did find a somewhat tacky solution, which was to use devcon and a .cmd script to disable the UAA driver on startup. However I can't get it to work right, feel like such a n00ber. (So maybe if someone knows how to get the script to properly work.)
I put the extracted devcon files (folder i386 i think?) In my windows/system32 folder. In the .cmd file I have 'devcon disable pci\cc_0403' I believe the UAA driver is loaded after the catalyst software. It's driving me nuts that I can't figure this out on my own. lol
If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
The vendor's drivers should disable that sound device on the card, eliminating the interrupts. Can be a bit dicey getting those drivers on, because until they are loaded, the system will run bog-slow.
