ZZF used to be pretty good. I remember another short lived site I bought a cheap AMD 3500+ from. Peoplepc (I know thats an ISP) or the thepeoplespc.com or something. Was a hit here a while, pretty sure they were not legit despite my successful purchase.

Yep, they had a great business until the new management decided to start screwing over and ripping off their customers.

http://www.a-power.com/product-25029
I did a search for this Intel brand Motherboard "DH77DF" and for a few others and this a-power.com website kept coming up. Says it is a Canadian Website. I was not looking to buy anything, I just was looking to see if different motherboards were available and what the cost was.
I kept seeing A-Power and said "I never heard of these guys!" Then I noticed they deliver Canada Wide. Located in Vancouver, Just north of Washington State.

I pretty much stopped buying from ZZF when their free fedex shipping stopped being offered on most items(similar to what newegg did). The free and paid UPS shipping they did offer after that took too long to get to me(5 days for delivery), but newegg established a warehouse close to me in TN and my business stayed with them and directron.

For the last couple of days (maybe longer I just started checking yesterday) ZZF's site has been "down for maintenance". Like others have said I used ZZF a few years ago as a counter to newegg but that's long in the past. Too bad because it's getting harder to find any site that can challenge newegg and that's not good for consumers.

No shit? Well, that shows how often I've been going there. I just happened across a link to ZZF yesterday and I thought I'd look for a burner there and saw it was down.

I love how ZZF packed their hard drive, I wish NewEgg would pack it like that.

Man, I was going to make a thread about ZZF... I guess I'm glad I searched first. I'm very sad to learn of ZZF's demise. I never had an issue with them.
Speaking of defunct etailors... does anyone remember BananaPC? I remember buying a 6800 GT from them on launch day.

Interesting... Looked back and I ordered from them in 2005-2007 a few times. In 2009, I ordered a ATI 4890 and they screwed me on some games that were supposed to be included.

I spent $2,000 there back in 07. Customer service called me to make sure I placed the order and to verify everything I ordered. They had pretty good customer service but I didnt have any rebates at the time so I cant say anything about their rebate issues.

I remember using the site. Was it only used for graphics cards back in the day? I remember it being extremely useful.

Newegg, Amazon, Tigerdirect, Microcenter, Fry's, Mwave, Superbiiz, etc... I did business with ZZF (and Monarch PC) years ago, but it was no big deal when they folded. Plenty of other options.

Built my first PC in 2003 with parts from Pricewatch links. It was the place to go for the cheapest components. A few years later I started noticing they missed a lot of good deals and they seem to care more about sponsored links vs. lowest prices.

Tigerdirect a good option besides the egg? IIRC they were very bad.

Prices are often good, there's no sale tax for me and the couple of times I've had a problem with something defective they issued a refund without a issue.
I've heard that as well, but until they give me a reason to think they're "very bad" I'll keep doing business with them.

wow yeah I kind of completely forgot about ZZF
they used to have good prices and seemed to ship out stuff decently enough, I guess they must have run into trouble somewhere and made the huge mistake of rebate fraud trying to keep up with Newegg. I hate messing with rebates so I never had a problem with them.

Yep, the Egg strikes again. Ruthless pricing from an owner-group who were flush with money long before starting Newegg, a startling reliance on Chinese in their warehouses for years (papers, anyone?), and direct connections to the major Asian distributors/export companies. I'm told they actually hired one or two white guys and pay state-mandated wages for the past couple years, in response to complaints. In a CRN (Computer Reseller News) article from a few years ago, owners or executives of computer and component supply companies who've been around longer than Newegg, were scratching their heads wondering how in the world Newegg can pull-off the pricing they do, if they were playing by the same rules as them.
