Geico doesn't have bad rates but they aren't necessarily the lowest, at least not anymore. A few years ago they were the lowest I could find by a long shot. Now that I'm a bit older I've found that I can save more bundling all my insurance with other companies. USAA was almost the cheapest but not quite. However, I like dealing with them and it's convenient to have my banking and insurance in one place. It sealed the deal for me.

All-State. Believe it or not, they gave me the best rate *AND* best service.

Did quote comparisons last year and Progressive wound up being lower than GEICO by about $75/yr for me.

The couple of times I've gotten quotes with Geico, my existing Progressive policy has always been cheaper.

Depends how badly they want you. Progressive had the best rates before I got my ticket 2 years ago. Geico is now the cheapest for me and I have been with them for 1.5 years.

Yeah, Geico has always been stupidly expensive for me. I haven't yet found a rate that would beat Progressive's.

Switched from Geico to Erie when I was 24. Saved a lot of money.

Why not use one of the many tools available to find the best rate? No one insurance company is going to be the cheapest for everyone.

With state farm and i did a progressive online quote, who did a match up with nationwide and farmers.

Statefarm was still the cheapest by a few $$. I'm over insured if anything but i guess it could be a good thing.

Not away from Geico, but did switch from State Farm to Metlife Auto. We get a discount as a retired worker from Verizon and they can deduct it right from my pension check. So easy to do and I don't have to worry about monthly payments. And they were cheaper than State Farm for the same coverage. In the future, I may see what The Hartford has to say, price wise, as I am an AARP member and they are said to be very good for members of AARP (you only need to be 50 to join up)

Geico is the only one that let me insure my RX-8. I got told by other companies that they do not offer insurance for my car, or the rates were outrageous. Allstate wanted $6400 for 6 months.

Insurance companies need to go suck a dick.

Don't forget to read the fine print. A lot of coverages leave out the small stuff that really can add-up like rental car coverage, car rental while yours is getting fixed, glass coverage, etc.

Sometimes that $10 you 'save' comes back to bite you in the a$$.

Call me old-fashioned, but I also like having a agent you can call, text, or email at pretty much anytime. I have been with AmFam for almost 15 years, and my agent is worth his weight in gold. He will do ANYTHING to help you out and be your representative. Even if I found cheaper rates, I lose the personalized service. It's hard to put a price on excellent support.

Personalized service is great, but I'm not paying 2X as much for it. I throw enough money at my insurance company as it is.

I pay like 150/6 months on geico. When I switched from Alabama to Florida to try to get my car registered without my orders it went up to over 400$... I switched back to Alabama pretty fast.
