Antennas with Built in DTV Converter?

Is there a such thing? Or do you have to buy both the converter and antenna?

never seen such a beast...wouldn't it be hard for the remote to reach outside to the box attached to the antenna?

Would not be very practical. Antenna need to have lots of long elements to pick up a signal. The converter is small and shaped like a square. You could build the two into one, but it has a lot of design issues.

I've never heard of anything like that. I bought a converter box and built my antenna using this video, cost about $7 to make and it works great - much better than a $35 antenna I purchased.

Does that thing pick up any VHF channels? That looks like an UHF only antenna...works great if you only have UHF stations, but Fox in my area is on Channel 7 and I don't think that would work.

Yes, it does pick up VHF channels. In my area there are 2 (6 and 13) and I get them both - they are about 50 miles away.
