Default what is the appropriate time frame to follow up on a job interview

Update: I didn't get it.

I went for a job interview on Aug 21. The interviewer inform me during the interview that they are still going through the "interview process" and they should have a decision by next week. I have yet to heard anything from him. I'm thinking of emailing him next Tuesday if I don't hear anything by tomorrow. Is that too soon?

you're 5 days too late
(assuming you mean "next week" as a week from 8/21)

too late. You didn't get the job.

Did you send a personal thank you to your interviewer(s)? Email or handwritten. The same day?

Agreed...if they REALLY wanted you and wanted to snatch you up, you would've heard from them in a shorter time frame than they originally gave you (imo).

The job I just got a couple months ago - I went to the interview and they asked me during the interview if I had many others lined up, so I told them I had one next week. At the end of the interview (it was a Tuesday), they said they'd probably know something by Friday since I was the last interview.

They called me 4 hours later and offered me the job. LOL
