Default Best way to have an egg drop 15 feet and SURVIVE

Take a piece of paper... make areally thin cone shape out of it.... insert egg in top and wrap area where eggs is sitting in bubble-wrap.

When it falls the paper compacts, and it tips over from a very low height.

Follow?

I just came up with that in my head without reading the thread.

When my friends and I had to do this, we created a pyramid using cardboard (only along the edges, with each piece bent about 90 degrees to make it stronger), and suspended the egg in a lightly cushioned container (again made of cardboard, and some padding) from each corner of the pyramid. Worked like a charm, although it took longer than other peoples.'

We could only use tape, cardboard, and some kind of cushioning (don't remember what), however.

you had a prof in HS? shens
I had one too (though technically). She taught at a nearby college, and taught at the high-school part-time (this was AP Biology).

I never got to do the egg experiment.

But for the bridge experiment, I got to do that one.

My class however, had to build a bridge within a certain budget using tooth picks and wood glue. My teacher assigned value to each bundle of tooth picks, and each little cup of glue we used. The bridge had to be supported by a flat piece of wood simulating the ground, and there was a hole in the middle of the "ground" to hang the weight through.

My bridge won, and I got to engineering stage a little late. I believe I could of built an even stronger bridge, but I will never know, we still where the strongest for the class. This was 7th grade for that project.

Did the same thing in 4th grade, had a lot of fun with it. Like real builders I falsified expense reports and stole toothpicks and glue when the teacher was not looking, but in all didn't have any reenforced areas and was still under budget outside of cheating.
Ended up holding somewhere around 50 lbs on crap when the weight was attached from the base of the bridge, and then after that gave out the weight was placed on the top of the bridge and it held over 65 lbs. Prolly the most enjoyable thing from elementary school I can recall, besides maybe a simulated adventure across the country on a wagon train that was done over the course of a month.

Some people did that in my class back in high school. It actually worked. They didn't even use bubble-wrap.

When a capsule filled this way hits the ground, the medium surrounding the egg becomes as hard as concrete. The egg has no way to crack.
Hm, this reminds me of the cornstarch + water videos I've been seeing lately. I wonder if that would work....

probably the best idea when i had to do this was styrofoam to hold the egg and a bunch of straws stuck into that it so it would just softly bounce off the ground...extremely light weight as well.

take a 12oz soda can, fill it halfway with a resin, insert egg, fill completely with resin. Let dry. Damn near indestructible.

1) Drop egg with no protection
2) Sue farmer for millions over defective egg
3) Pay some broke college kid $50 out of your millions to devise a way to drop it 15 feet without it breaking
