Time to corral the MAGAts.(Paul Pelosi attack)

Reminds me of the opening of Office Space, which is about as good as it gets for comedy. I pity all the people stuck in traffic. I zip by them frequently on my bicycle. :D I haven't used my car for 23 days. Poured some fuel preservative in the tank a couple days ago.

I lived in Hollywood and Venice, both in the 60's. I had a car. Traffic wasn't so bad, is my recollection.

Time to corral the MAGAts.(Paul Pelosi attack)

When that highway was proposed, it was to go through our property in Cheviot Hills. They changed the plan, moved it south by a couple blocks. When built, it let my dad drive to work downtown pretty quick (instead of city streets). I guess the traffic is 10x worse these days...

He's been on my ignore list for quite some time, assuming you're talking about Felix.

FDA scientists have recommended that the federal government remove marijuana from its most restrictive category of drugs.

I watched this longish video to completion the other day. It's very well done by a guy who knows what he's talking about. I couldn't stop. Now, TBH, I drink almost no alcohol, so little in fact that it's virtually no concern. I have enough alcohol in the house to probably kill 1/2 a dozen...

New covid variant becoming dominant: KP.2

I didn't wear masks in public prior to covid-19, but I had a stash of N95's already because I had an outdoor project in 2017 that took weeks and wildfires were raging not far from me. They came in handy in 2020. I bought more then but the prices quadrupled or more. They've come back down now...

Time to corral the MAGAts.(Paul Pelosi attack)

I grew up in West L.A. Before freeways existed. You used to have to drive downtown on streets like Venice Blvd. or Washington Blvd. It does not take an hour to get downtown. Well, I don't live there anymore, but I doubt it. Never been to Pac Heights.

Time to corral the MAGAts.(Paul Pelosi attack)

My recollection was that he was a sort of homeless character in Berkeley, which is right across the bay, a 20 minute train ride. He's a stupid character.

Me too. I didn't read past the first few questions. I have been contemplating scanning the thing and posting the scans here, but have been wondering if it's a good idea. I mean, there IS something deplorable about showing people that. After reading the first few questions I thought to write...

Who's cancelled their NYT subscription yet?

Yeah, I know I can access it through the PUB, but probably not as convenient as being a subscriber, no? Edit: That looks to be New York Times Audio. I am not into audio except for music. Have never done a book audio, don't do podcasts, being people talking. I read interviews, articles, etc...

NC Senate votes to ban people from wearing masks in public for health reasons

Virtue signalling is a pejorative neologism for the idea that an expression of a moral viewpoint is being done disingenuously, OK, yeah, well somehow by hook and crook, swindle, illegal payoffs, hush money, Russian interference, Trump got the White House for 4 years and Republicans are all...

Who's cancelled their NYT subscription yet?

I subscribed for I guess a couple or years or more. It was IIRC $15/month, then they boosted it to $20, which was pricey but hey, it seemed to be the best online source for news, plus several people I know and have some respect for subscribed. Then I got info that I could subscribe for less. One...

New covid variant becoming dominant: KP.2

I had an in-office with my hand doctor 5 days ago. I wore an N95 and the doctor knocks and walks in unmasked and asked me if I wanted him to don a mask and I said "I don't care." I was masked, after all, why should I care? I even wear a mask when I hike, it protects me from allergens. I also...

Here's the first 4 questions 1. Do you think it is right for the government to take more than 50% of anyone's income in taxes? Yes No Not sure 2. How concerned are you that Joe Biden's 87,000 new IRS agents will be unleashed on fixed-income, middle-class and lower-income individuals rather...

Totally right. Before voting by mail became free I used to vote in person. Waiting in line one day (probably over 10 years ago), I looked at a posted list of voters and affiliations and there were almost no Republicans. I think maybe one or two. So, ALMOST "literally" no Republicans here.

He didn't say "stop" the spread, he said "control." Clearly, vaccinations and mask wearing offered control mechanism. I don't always research things I post very thoroughly. I often figure it's better to present info/links than not, a judgement call. Now, I do very much believe that those who...

I got a letter the other day from the R party. They wanted me to fill in a survey that had totally loaded questions and multiple choice answers. It was infuriating. You are an admirable data point, but that's just you. Read the comments in the OP link, plenty of people have suffered covid infections, many multiple, many have long covid. You look at mask wearers side-eyed, but are foolish to do so.

Ok Amazon this is a little crazy but in a good way

Unless I'm on Prime (happens occasionally...) I never know how long or when Amazon shipments will arrive. USPS pretty much invariably lets me know via an advance email that an item is coming. Identifying what the item is usually takes some detective work, and I often do figure it out. Amazon, it...

New covid variant becoming dominant: KP.2

He didn't say it would "just go away," he said we had a "chance to contain it." With far wider mass vaccination and mask wearing the bell curve could have been way suppressed and the health care systems not stretched to the limit with patients lining the walls, cadaver trucks in the streets and...

Here's another interesting comment to the article linked in the OP: Federalist CaliforniaMay 10 I am not as worried about a new covid strain as I am about bird flu. So far the data from all known cases worldwide says that the disease has been 52% fatal. With the H5N1 bird flu virus spreading...
