CPU light is gone.
I did repaste the CPU but I think the cause was extension cables to the EPS connection. I removed those and plugged the OEM cables straight in to the PSU and no light now.
So socket looks fine and the chip itself does as well.
I tried playing Fortnite and the game ran maybe 3-4 mins then the pc hard reboot. Don’t think it is a TIM issue since temps run mid 40 on air and see 70s while in game.
Isn’t the first PC I’ve built but definitely has me scratching my head.
I did a fresh install last night so I am on F22 released 3/21/2024.
I do have EXPO 1 Enabled but the light was on before I did that.
I typically flash the latest non-beta BIOS, Reset BIOS settings to Factory Defaults and then load Windows. Once I have Windows loaded, all the necessary...
I upgraded platforms and am running an AM5 Ryzen 5 7600X with a Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX V2 Rev 1.0 board. Using Team Group Vulcan alpha 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000.
PC boots in to windows, all the drivers are up to date but my CPU LED stays on after boot.
Temps are good, 41...
There are risks with physical storage too, writing it down and someone finding it is a simple threat. What if the user forget where they put the book due to some medical condition.
The reality is no method is perfect but I prefer a self-hosted Bitwarden solution.
Have all three models in hand now. The Ultra has the most significant change imho. The flatter sides made it so much easier to hold. It's a good middle-ground between the S22 Ultra and the harsh edges of an iPhone. Transferring data wirelessly went very smoothly, 10GB of data took just a few...
If you are going to get a screen protector for that phone I would definitely suggest Whitestone. They really are top of the line and you do pay a little bit more but for that phone at that price...
I'll have these on my desk tomorrow of Thursday for testing. I'll have an opinion then but I did read that Arstechnica article.
The file size we pull down for testing is only 8GB. Will report back once I have the devices in hand.
Bought the Galahad 240 back in late 2020 but a few weeks ago I noticed my idle temps were creeping up. Low 60's and when I'd load in to Fortnite to play with my son, after a game or two I was stuttering bad. Checked HWInfo and I was hitting thermal limits (95 degrees) on a Ryzen 3600X.
Went...
This impacted me recently. I moved from LastPass to Bitwarden years ago, but when I was test driving BW, my password was stored with it in a LP vault...dumb I know.
I received a notification that my Bitwarden account and my box.com account had been logged in to.
Dumped my vault, kicked all...
I'm using a B550 now and it's been rock solid for me. Zero issues and I have the latest bios, I've updated it over time, never had an issue during each update.
Hooked this up today and cannot get wired or wireless internet on it. I've disconnected my unmanaged switch and restarted modem and router. Nada
Connected directly to modem a laptop can reach the internet. Stumped.
Was going to get the Linksys E9450 but Linksys does not support OpenVPN with this router, only VPN-Passthrough.
I only use the NordVPN app on my Windows 11 machine. Does that mean that the application will no longer work? I do not want to set up VPN on the router itself.
I snagged what I thought was an amazing deal for some Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM 16GB@3600 18-19-19-39 CMT16GX4M2C3600C18 of $90 on a reddit thread. I want to move to 32GB but the cost to add that extra RAM is again, in my opinion, dumb.
Should I sell these for at least what I have in them...
I've been running Emby on my main rig just poking at it and making sure it's what I want.
That said I'm wanting to build an HTPC on Ryzen. The A520 and a 3400G seem like a great match. Has anyone built with those two components?
The price of this is now absolutely ridiculous now that it's out of stock. Some on on Newegg selling it for almost $150...
Did anyone buy one BTW? Considering this or the Lian-Li Lancool II
Case looks interesting. One thing I am not a fan of is the psu shroud window (feel that way for all shroud windows). I don't want to know it exists. I just want it to work.
Just an FYI, that thermal grease was atrocious, the Halnziye. I tested it and it did zero for my cpu Temps.
I've applied thermal paste a lot and after 4 applications it was still forcing the CPU you shut down. So hopefully my 1600 is okay while I wait for a real 3600 to come in.
Has anyone used this stuff? I ordered a 3600x from Amazon warehouse and it came with the CPU, the wrong CPU, I opened the box and have a 1600x...so WTH there..
Anyway, has anyone used this stuff? I usually use IC Diamond and MX-4. Going to try Kryonaut once I get the right CPU.
Thanks Larry, I am thinking about that. I have the Strix B350-F Gaming in my rig on the latest BIOS so support is there, I was able to snag some Dom Plats 3600 MHz on HWS for $45 and a 3600 on Mercari (of all places) for $90.
Just did not know if there was a need for board upgrades, I usually...
I've got a 1070 in the FS thread for $225 that should do ya good I think. It has an aftermarket AIO on it. I could take that off if water cooling doesn't interest you.
I appreciate the feedback everyone. Going to flip the current board, CPU and RAM soon. Nabbed a decent deal on new RAM from HWS just need to find a CPU and board. The muddy waters of the B550 and X570 lineups are annoying.
