View Full Version : How do you get rid of "Fastrack" bios screen on startup?

I believe this startup screen is coming from the motherboard. I have an MSI 815EP Pro (R) motherboard. Its the fastrack bios (promise) startup junk. Trying to get rid of this on boot up. Not using RAID on this system, and don't need the Fastrack.

Anyone know how to get this screen to turn off?

Thanks to anyone who has the answer..

That would be the BIOS for your Promise controller. I'm assuming your motherboard features an on-board Promise controller. If that's the case, depending on your mobo, you will have an option to disable the Promise BIOS (it may be labled differently than "Promise BIOS"). I know for sure that you can disable it on the ASUS A7V8X because I did so when I built a friend's computer.

Yes... this is the Promise Fastrack bios....

I have the MSI 815EP Pro R board.... and I cannot find anything in the startup bios that I can switch off or disable. I also do not find a jumper on the motherboard that can be changed.

If anyone has this motherboard... and knows how to disable the Promise fastrack, so that the fastrack bios does not show during bootup I really appreciate your input. I am trying to speed up the boot time.. and the Fastrack really slows down the boot process. This board is not being used with the RAID, so no need for the Fastrack.

Thanks again...

You have RAID, either an add in card, or onboard on your motherboard... if you are using it, your stuck with watching it load. If you are not using it and it is onboard, go into BIOS and look for "Integrated Perifferals" or something along those lines. Keep scrolling down, it is one of the last items listed (you will likely see onboard sound, onboard modem and onboard LAN depending on what your board is equipped with, and tit will be listed as RAID. Select "disable" for RAID.

My mobo is an MSI with onboard RAID, and that is how it is listed.

You may also have a jumper. My a7v333 enables/disables the promise fast track raid controller this way.

It is not in the bios... (Integrated Periphs, etc)..... I looked everywhere. :(

There is a jumper near the PCI slots... but not sure if that will do anything.

If anyone has this board.... that would be extremely helpful. Thanks for all the input.

This MSI 815EP Pro R motherboard has the RAID controller on board (no add on card).

I went to the MSI site and downloaded the manual for your board. It apears that you have no option for turning it off. (You figured that out by now though)

There is no option in bios to disable it like on later boards (mine is a KT3Ultra2).

Maybe of you flashed to a later bios it would give you the option. Don't know what else to tell ya...

Use the jumper dood. That's what it's there for.

it's going to be there as long as you use the controller. it's just initializing the controller (raid or not) with visual output. if you dont want to see it, disable the controller.

As WarrenPeace has noted..... it appears there is no way to turn it off. It is defenitely not in the bios. I am going to try to see if there is a version of the bios that I can flash that will have a disable feature.

Dood, why don't you just change the damn jumper?? On my motherboard there is absoultely no way of shutting down the controller through the bios, i have to do it via jumpers.

Kinda impatient aren't ya? It only lasts like ten seconds or so. How often do you need to boot\reboot anyway?

TheneoOne..... There is no jumper for it either.... "Dood". And thats "Dude" to you... :P

L Vis... my impatience has nothing to do with it. ;)
