View Full Version : Phish- Gin & Juice...what album is it on? edit: Jorken, are you still lurking?

Spoooon

I've got an MP3 of Phish's remake of Snoop's Gin & Juice. It's a great song, but I want to get the CD that it's on. It doesn't seem to be on any of their albums. Anybody have a clue? Or is the song actually done by someone other than Phish? When I searched on CDNOW, the only other group that came up was Sissy Bar. I went ahead and got that MP3. That's another good one.

konichiwa
10-27-2000, 11:38 PM
It's not. It's live.

Spoooon
10-27-2000, 11:39 PM
But the MP3 had to come from somewhere. And I heard it playing at a party 2 years ago. But I didn't know who they were or that it was even a Snoop Dogg song. Someone must know.

konichiwa
10-27-2000, 11:40 PM
The MP3 is from a live recording.

Sorry can't help you out. Cool song though :)

It is a cool song. Maybe a soundtrack perhaps?

navap, you've been bumped out of here, due to "bump" not being any kind of contribution to the forums. You may re~register, but obviously your post count will start at zero. Do this again, and you will not be allowed back.

Check out Gracenote here. (http://www.cddb.com)

They give "Gin and Juice" on Crazy Train.

Spoooon

Bump. I asked in some Napster chat rooms, but no one knew there either. Not that I wasn't surprised, since I don't think the people that hang out in Napster chatrooms are the brightest of people. :P

Spoooon,
its off the live at hamptons box set, along with the cover or get jiggy wit it and a few others

apoppin
10-28-2000, 05:06 PM
Gracenote didn't list it on any of the Hampton live albums (Hampton Comes Alive, Disc 3 - Bathtub Gin?) but also listed it on a couple of collections CDs.

Spoooon
10-28-2000, 05:54 PM
At CDNOW, it doesn't show it on any of the disks that come with the set. Bathtub Gin isn't the song.

jorken
10-28-2000, 07:27 PM
I'm not sure what disc it is on, but it is DEF. on the Hampton Comes Alive 6-disc set. :)

apoppin

Spoooon, evidently that Phish album Crazy Train with "Gin and Juice" is not readily available, except perhaps used.

Go over to that link I posted earlier (12:52pm) at Gracenote.com. "Search" (submit query) for Phish/Crazy Train/Gin and Juice (Make sure to check Artist/Album/Song). Follow the links to Phish fansites. There you will find the CD you are looking for. Also many CDRs of their live concerts.

It's out there.

EDIT: Just burn the mp3 to CD. :)

Spoooon
10-28-2000, 08:39 PM

I'll find it eventually.

PHISH has NEVER played Gin and Juice in public or any CD they released. Therefore, there is no known version of this song to exist. The crazy train album you listed is not a PHISH show, nor are any of the songs listed PHISH songs. Must be mis-labeled or complete BS.

I always thought it was Phish..

IHateMyJob2004

http://www.phish.net/faq/ginandjuice.html

This song has not been performed or recorded by the Vermont band Phish .

It was originally done by Dr. Dre, Snoop, and a NYC hip-hop artist named Phish, and has been covered by a bluegrass band from Texas called the Gourds. The latter circulates on MP3, and is sometimes incorrectly labelled as by Phish.

The hip-hop artist "Phish" is also featured on backup vocals for Dre's "What's the Difference" (track 7 on Dr. Dre 2001 - a title as remarkably unoriginal as using the name Phish nearly two decades after the band started to).

For relatively recent confirmation (and because emails continue to come in insisting that Phish the band has covered this tune), see article in the Boise Weekly.

It isn't Phish... It is a country bluegrass band called the Gourds. It was one of those songs that were miss labeled during the napster years and have been as such since then...

ditto. didn't get any during their pre-sale "lottery" and didn't get any through ticketmaster... pretty disappointing. Hopefully they announce a healthy list of tour dates through 2009.

I should have sent in Mail-order request, as I always had luck with the Hampton shows. I'm on the West Coast now, though...so it didn't really appeal to me. Wouldn't have had a problem selling them, of course.

Didn't really get into their last tour, either. Hopefully when they come back, it'll be at their mid to lat-90s form. Most of the shows in '01-'03 were craptastic, including the last time they were at Hampton.

there is nothing to discuss, as Phish has NEVER covered Gin and Juice. Were I an active member at the time of this thread, I would have relayed that information earlier than the first member that explained this, as I was "in the know" at the time.

so, of course no one bumps this to discuss the OP's question. Even if Phish ever covered the song, the question is stupid (for the year). Album? what album? seriously? what do you know about Phish, sir? (is what I would ask the OP)

No, really you are. Phish actually has talent. What do you listen to that is so good? You must be right though. One of the highest grossing live acts of all time has no talent! One of my few regrets in life is not seeing Phish in the late 90s when I could have.

seriously, give a compelling argument here. Like their style or not (and I can agree with many people that don't like them), they are really, really talented musicians. You could pretty much cram all of Metallica's talent into Anastasio's penis.
