BTW, do not linkify. Their links contain session IDs which don't work if removed.

Update: to get to the free DVDs, click on the "chili pepper" icon on the main electronics page. There's a limited selection to choose from but you should be able to trade them in at a B&M store because they usually have liberal trade-in policies during the holiday season.

cant find the portable dvd player... is this stuff new?

Nevermind.. .found it...

I think the PIONEER PDVL10(Portable DVD/CD/CD-R Player-7 which is 7 inches instead of 5 is a better deal at $599.
Anyone know if the pioneer is good quality screen or any other recomendations on a portable DVD player?

11-11-2000, 04:27 PM
Wow. They got some good deals on Video Games+DVDs as well!

11-11-2000, 11:03 PM
I got the pioneer portable dvd player! That is going to be great for my little niece on trips!
Anyone know if this company is good to deal with?

11-11-2000, 11:12 PM
The webpage won't load for me...anyone else having this problem.

11-11-2000, 11:16 PM
I also cannot access the webpage.

11-11-2000, 11:25 PM
i believe massmerchandise.com is another company run by audiohighway.com. they ran massmusic.com when they had a great sale on dvd's a year ago. everyone was charged multiple times and it took a long time for some to fix it. I had a page of charges and credits on my statement from them. make printouts of everything in case you have to contest this :) . Good luck!

11-11-2000, 11:28 PM
There site is off and on... really crappy... hopefully this works out nice without problems for me:)

11-11-2000, 11:48 PM
Hey, they got Sharp Portable MD player/recorders below $100.
Even though they are old model, but Sharp MD is pretty good in quality. One example, it use lithium ion rechargeble battery for longer use.

11-12-2000, 12:19 AM
Those two JVC VCR's would be hot deals, but the transport mechs on the x600 models are crap. The Quasar one they have isn't half bad though (bought one when Sam's Club cleared them out a few weeks ago @ $52.91)

11-12-2000, 12:29 AM
Wow, Diamond Rio 500's for only $150! And there's a $50 rebate available from the Diamond Website.

Crap, both of the descriptions list it as "Purple," but the headers say "Teal" and "Purple."

I wouldn't touch the Purple one with a 10 Foot Pole, but the Teal one is cool.

Hopefully, they really mean that they have both.

*EDIT* Nothing wrong with the Purple one; I just think it's ugly. :)

11-12-2000, 12:43 AM
What do you mean "transport mechs"?

11-12-2000, 12:54 AM
He means that the mechanical contruction is not very good. I second this. I have the JVC HR-S9500u, which is the predecessor (BTW, the normal street price on the 9600 is like $400!) to the 9600. It's a really nice machine, but the mechanical construction is not very good. I knew that when I bought it. There really is no good SVHS machine out there. My only other option was the Mitsubishi 795, which is FAR superior mechanically, but does not have as many features. In the end, I decided I was willing to live with the inferior construction of the JVC for the features I needed.
However, I would question the decision to buy a panasonic. IMHO, EVERYTHING on the Panasonics SUCK. Their commercial ones are great, but they are also $1000. Their consumer machines (at least in my experiance) have difficulty loading a tape even. I would put them WAAAAAAAAY below the JVC.
BTW, overall, the JVC 9500/9600 is a VERY nice VCR, the picture is amazing. I can be watching a tape and I'll forget I can fast forward, it looks that good.

11-12-2000, 01:07 AM
One question. How do you get the 3 DVD movies on the portable DVD player? Mail in or do it or am i supposed to add them to my cart?

BTW GREAT FIND!!!! (especially on the 7 in DVD player)

11-12-2000, 01:11 AM
Okay, why is sony -> sny (some models) on their link to digicams/camcorders?

11-12-2000, 01:50 AM
The SHARP MDMS722(PORTABLE MINI DISC PLYR./REC.)is a great deal. Very good md rec/player for the price. Got it last week from ubid.com for 150 shipped. Aggg..

11-12-2000, 02:44 AM
Just grabbed the HR-S9600U. GREAT DEAL!!!

11-12-2000, 03:29 AM
r these products brand new or refurbished??and how much do they charge for shipping and handling {i.g. jvc vcr?}thanks

11-12-2000, 03:45 AM
nice find. CA has tax tho and shipping was about $20

11-12-2000, 03:47 AM
good deal man..just order 10 of the Sharp MD...cooll....e*bay time again..

11-12-2000, 03:50 AM
Check the shipping link on the left side of the site. Electronics was like $5 plus .50 each pound or something like that, not bad.

11-12-2000, 04:06 AM
Why is the JVC GR-DVF10U Digital Cam so cheap? What's the catch?

I also saw it go on egay for $250 - $350...is there something wrong with this camera?

11-12-2000, 04:43 AM
Looks like 1) it's a recently discontinued model & 2) no firewire - in fact, no real digital out at all - $300 still seems like a great deal though.

11-12-2000, 04:45 AM
I am 98.9% sure both JVC camcorders are refurbished.

11-12-2000, 04:52 AM
have anyone purchased from them anything? is there any feedback on those guys anywhere. thanks

11-12-2000, 05:10 AM
I bought a HP C200 Digital Camera from them about a month ago. No problems whatsoever.

In fact, when I called for my order status, the lady said she would have to call the warehouse, then email me in a few minutes. I was like, "yeah, right." About 10 minutes later, she did email me with the status and tracking number.

I was very impressed. Hopefully that will be true for everyone else! :)

11-12-2000, 05:11 AM
JVC CAMCORDERS ARE MOST LIKELY REFURBISHED!!! Look at the $299 one the description says "RB" after the model # in the description...this is a common way retailers mark products as refurbished without openly saying it...i bet the VCRS are refurbs as well considering they are all JVC and all at very low prices..

11-12-2000, 08:07 AM
they seem shaddy to me..

11-12-2000, 11:05 AM
This portable dvd player I just got better not be refurbished. I can't imagine them selling refurbished without indicating... that is illegal... but, they do not indicate the product as "new" either... so, maybe they think if they don't say anything that can't be blamed.

11-12-2000, 11:19 AM
Grabbed from Dragon Ball movies! :)

11-12-2000, 11:20 AM
Ah, deal already posted..

GMan x
11-12-2000, 11:57 AM
I don't think the items are refurbed. If you look around in the Computers section, they do sell refurbed items, but they're clearly indicated as recertified. I think the low prices are just to clear out the older models.

11-12-2000, 12:58 PM
Which VCR is better in mechanics and overall the
JVC HRS9600U S-VHS VCR for $199.95
JVC HRS3600 S-VHS VCR for $99.95

If I record on regular tapes a few times a week will these VCR's last.

Whats the difference between those vcrs? Is one better than the othet mechanically or they are crap?

11-12-2000, 02:00 PM
Take the higher model of the VCR, i have that one. It's an extremely good VCR if you are runing a home theater system or something of that sort and plus its like $500 off! :)

11-12-2000, 02:00 PM
Ah! I just bought myself a Rio 500 Teal :) What a deal at $100! :D

11-12-2000, 02:09 PM
This has to be one of the slowest ecommerce places around! I have been waiting for ever, and I am on a cable modem! Great prices if you can ever get the site to respond!

11-12-2000, 02:15 PM
NM :)

11-12-2000, 02:23 PM
Great prices, but are the deals legit? I haven't heard back from anyone who has gotten merchandise from them yet...

11-12-2000, 09:28 PM
I cant get to any of the deals now. It says this item is currently unavaliable.

11-12-2000, 09:39 PM
Wow, all of the minidisc equipment sold out.

And here I thought it was a dead technology.

(Note my username, which signifies my undying support of the technology!)

11-13-2000, 02:49 PM
Fuji MX-4700 4.3 megapixel digital camera for $499.95
Just ordered it
Final price came out to $511.42. I took about an hour of pricematching on the phone though :)
I'll let you know when it arrives

11-13-2000, 03:22 PM
Does anyone have either the panasonic or pioneer portable dvd player? How do they compare with home units, when hooked up to a home theater system? Do they have all of the standard outputs, s-video, optical dd/dts, etc.?

11-13-2000, 03:39 PM
I just found the Pioneer PDV-10 at etronics (http://www.etronics.com) for only $369. What is the difference between this model and the one massmerchandise sells for $599? Etronics also sells the Panasonic PV-55 for $499, the LV-55 for $645, and the LV-75 for $930. Anyone know the difference between these models and the one massmerchandise sells? Is the PDV-L10(the one at massmerchandise for $599) the same as the PDV-LC10 (which is $999 at buy.com)? If not, what are the differences between these 2 units?

11-13-2000, 03:47 PM
I just realized that the pioneer pdv-10 does not have a screen at all, so that is the main difference. Etronics also sells the panasonic DVD-PA65 for $509. anyone know the specs on this one? It looks like it may not have a screen either. The PV-55 also looks like it may not have a screen.

11-13-2000, 04:10 PM
the JVC GR-DVF10U digital camcoder seems damn hot to me...even it's refurbished..but wut's different between JVC Japan and JVC America? Cuz i know some electrical product doesn't wirk here...(the japanese are using the higher voltage on power supply?)....

11-13-2000, 04:23 PM
The 9600 is a FAR superior machine in terms of features and picture. Qualitity wise, they are both mechanically similar/the same. One will be just as reliable. HOWEVER, the 3600 if the bottom end model, whereas the 9600 is the top of line. The 9600 has MANY MANY more features, and has a much better picture. The 3600 only has a so-so picture. However, the 9600 will allow you to experiance all that SVHS has to offer. In other words, get the 9600. Not even a question.

11-13-2000, 05:06 PM
Hey Eric: Or anybody familiar with SVHS: I have a couple of those original JVC HRS8000u's. They were the best thing of their time. One had the main board get zapped (my fault) and the other I got to steal the board off of since that one had a bad power supply since the guy stacked stuff on it in a cabinet. Got it cheaper than going to JVC for parts. Anyway, I am wondering if this "higher" end VCR for sale is as good of quality as my old unit is. I havew heard 2 stories.....one is the technology is improved over the years so it would be better....and...that with SVHS kind of "Dying out" popularity wise, the companies didn't spend much time or $ to improve the system over the last few years. Anyone know how these models compare to the ones like I got? I was considering this buy (cause I want a second VCR) or just fixing the one with the left over parts.

11-13-2000, 05:43 PM
The 9600 is sold out!

11-13-2000, 07:07 PM
OK, honestly, I'm not familliar with your machine. However let me say this. Based on the general idea of JVC model numbers, it suggests that the 8000 is a high-end machine. If so, the picture will probally be very close to that of the 9600. The 9600 will probally have a SLIGHT edge when using the RF or composite in due to its 3D comb filter. However, using S-video in, the pictures should be virtually identical. Your current machine is no doubt FAR superior mechanically. So, I would not buy the 9600 as an upgrade. If you're looking for a second SVHS machine however, it's probally a good buy. Also, you interested in selling that broken 8000 (or anyone else with a broken SVHS deck) email me erickotz@my-deja.com.

11-13-2000, 11:00 PM
japanese use lower voltage right? 115 instead of 120 right? my asian dreamcast runs way hotter than my american one...however when i went to tokyo, my norelco razor worked fine

11-14-2000, 01:08 AM
I'd stay away from the 3600 (JVC) altogether. From what I've heard, the quality on the low end machines is deplorable (even compared with the known problems of the high end models). I have a 7500 which other than a few transport problems when I first got it, works well (easily fixed, but it looks
as though the mechanism is put together jerry-rigged/shimmed to work correctly--I'm not kidding)

11-14-2000, 01:20 AM
But how can you pass up $99 for the 3600.

11-14-2000, 01:25 AM
>But how can you pass up $99 for the 3600.

1 Year Parts, 90 Days Labor Warranty

You'll definitely be needing those $ you saved once the warranty's up!:D

11-14-2000, 01:39 AM
Did anyone called them or e-mailed them for order status? Does anyone know when they will start shipping orders?

11-14-2000, 05:00 AM
its a moot point on the JVC vcrs, as only the 3600 is available now...

SVHS is like Dolby B&C&S cassette decks...with new formats (CD-R, DVD) available, no one is putting money into this technology and the older s-vhs decks (top of the line) represent the pinnacle of the technology...

its sad but strange how nearly all car cassette deck makers (sony alpine kenwood etc) have stopped making high end cassete decks when lots of people still do use cassetes in the car along with a cd changer...

11-14-2000, 10:39 AM
No folks the 9600 is still there:) Do a search on JVC and it will come up. I ordered one last night. I have had SVHS decks since 1990, and have a 9500 now. These things are great performance is wonderful. YOU CAN NOT BEAT THIS DEAL:)

11-14-2000, 01:27 PM
Guess they got wise to this, when you do the search it lists the item, but when you click on the item or to buy you get "no longer available" message.

11-14-2000, 02:26 PM
Just picked up the JVC GR-DVF31U . 2 day shipping was less than $15!! I really
need this for our first baby coming in 3 weeks.

Thanks, guys!

11-14-2000, 03:23 PM
Just called them.

She said my order was transfered to their distributor and will be shipped today and tracking number will be available tommorow. I asked in what state their warehouse in, she said CA. Why then I was charged NY taxes if their warehouse and office located in CA?

11-14-2000, 03:55 PM
Check to see if they have some kind of office in NY, if so then they have to, if not then they are trying to make a few extra bucks but are in for some serious fines.

11-14-2000, 05:49 PM
I placed my order (for a JVC 9600 VCR and GR-DVF10U camcorder) as soon as this thread hit last Saturday night (thank you GMan).

I went to check my order at their web site today. The status is "Shipment Pending" but the line items now read "Sold Out," so I called Customer Service. They told me the order was transferred to their distributor's warehouse yesterday (Monday) but they would not know if the items shipped or were sold out until tomorrow (Wednesday). When I asked if an e-mail would automatically be sent to me to indicating the failure or success of this order, the CSR suggested I e-mail or call them.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be more like zones.com with the AIW Radeon than like Egghead with the memory!

11-14-2000, 06:27 PM
I put the item in my basket in the morning and in the evening checked the 9600 out, by then is said Sold out next the the item. I went through with it anyway and am keeping my fingers crossed. Let us pray... Oh, and shipping is not advertised correctly, it says 4.95 plus .50 per pound, yet my shipping was $20.95 and I'm in CA. I don't think the box weighs like 34 pounds, maybe there is a 24kt gold demonstration video tape included with it. Now that would be a great deal, but I won't complain if not, as long as I get in on this deal, I will be happy. If they charge my credit card and still tell me it was sold out, then watch out, don't mess the the king of the letter to your corp. office writers. United Airlines must love me, with several letters I've written so far, how much does it cost to hire another employee to answer all the letters, HaHa, don't mess with me or your your gonna, gonna, gonna, have to respond to a letter from me. Kind of like Robyn Williams when he describes unarmed english police officers... "Stop! or I'll say Stop again."

11-14-2000, 09:26 PM
I think that your shipping was 20 bucks because their warehouse was in Ca so you get to pay tax as well.

11-14-2000, 10:03 PM
That did not include the tax, tax was an additional $16.50.

11-14-2000, 11:33 PM
Well, I just tried to purchase a home DVD player with no luck. Or maybe I purchased 3. Can't be sure. No comfirmation, nothing. Site really acting funky. Guess I call them tomorrow.

11-15-2000, 01:09 PM
Shipped! The 9600 came out to 235 w/ the exhorbitant shipping and CA taxes, but what a deal. Thanks to the original poster, good luck to everyone else. I only ordered 1 when it first was posted.

11-15-2000, 03:31 PM

is down NOW

11-15-2000, 04:08 PM

Anyone received the mini disc player? I ordered last sunday using express shipping,
now the status is still "shipment pending".
Do they have live CS? My call was always answered by machine. And they don't
reply to my emails.:|

11-15-2000, 05:20 PM
Mine came out to $237.40 but still says shipment pending, damn.

11-15-2000, 05:45 PM
mine's shipped too!

11-16-2000, 05:48 PM
My order still says pending. Anyone's elses order still pending and not shipped?

11-16-2000, 06:27 PM
My order is still pending, and I placed it late last Saturday night. I called them twice in the last 24 hours, had to leave a voice mail message (the second time I was transferred to a different mailbox...the first one was full), and there has been no reply. These deals may be hot, but their customer service is not! :frown:

11-16-2000, 06:29 PM
I agree Steve!

11-16-2000, 07:11 PM
I ordered mine early evening Saturday (~6 pm), and my order number is near 10500. Can anyone confirm that they've shipped, and has ordered after this time frame/order number?

I know someone else has told me they've shipped and had a number higher than mine, but just want to see how widespread it is. I would have thought it was first come/first serve. That is, assuming the order numbers are sequential, and in ascending order.

I've also tried calling, like every half hour, since Wednesday morning, and ALWAYS get the stupid recording. I was surprised to hear their mailbox was full today. Thought they would have been responding to those messages at least.

Needless to say, my shipping is still pending too :-(

11-16-2000, 07:23 PM
Ordered 1 JVC 9600 on the 11th. Shipping notice the 15th. Received via UPS ground today the 16th. (Cupertino to Socal). Total cost 235 - 10 for shipping overcharge. Less than 1/3 msrp, and 1/2 best price online. Can't wait to mess around with it. Btw, they shipped it in it's original box!
:( I've ordered 2 vcr's online before and both were shipped the same way. Hopefully this one is not damaged. Mine isn't a refurb tho. I don't see a refurb notice or refurb warranty.

11-17-2000, 03:51 AM
i think only the $299 digital camcorder said "RB" in the description...

11-17-2000, 04:34 AM
ok, i ordered mine right after midnight sunday the 12th. order number was in the 10580's. it said shipped 11/15. so if i'm lucky like eLuminati, mine should be here already (gotta check the front desk) since i'm in L.A. as well. dang it, i want to go check but i have two midterms tomorrow. i'll find out when i go for breakfast. good luck everybody.

11-17-2000, 11:25 AM
yes, mine did come in yesterday. no indication that it is refurb. looks great. it was shipped only with its vcr box. (isn't that dangerous to ship via ups like that?) i'm very excited but won't hook it up until tonite. again, i hope everybody will get their stuff. :)

11-17-2000, 02:05 PM
Okay, now I'm getting pissed. I have just left my third message with Customer Service (apparently their mailbox is working again, but they are still not responding).

SiberianTiger, glad to hear your got your JVC 9600 VCR. My order number is in the 10530's, about 50 before yours, and I'm still "Shipment Pending." Clearly they are not filling orders in the order received.

I suspect I'm gonna get screwed... :|

11-17-2000, 02:13 PM

Looks like you're getting the same thing I am! I'm actually about 30 below YOURS and still getting shafted. Mine is still "Shipment pending" as well. Both of their lines (800 and 408 numbers) go to the same thing.....that menu of 2 choices.

I finally left a message in the general mailbox asking if one of their CS managers or supervisors could call me back.

Luckily they're in Cupertino, which is about 10 minutes from me. Thinking about paying a visit sometime in the afternoon to see if I can see someone face-to-face.

Sounds like their shipping facility is in the same vicinity, if not the same building (from eLuminati's post). I'll let you know if anything comes of my visit....other than perhaps the door being shut on me.

11-17-2000, 02:31 PM
i haven't looked at the packing slip...i'll let you know where mine was shipped from...most likely the same place.

11-17-2000, 03:03 PM
Here's some ammo for you guys. My order number was #1056x. Shipped from San Leandro (east bay). Make sure to tell them not to ship using only the original carton. Double box this thing!

11-17-2000, 03:47 PM
mine is still pending, I hope they didn't charge my credit card, if they wont shipped on monday I will stop payment

11-17-2000, 03:53 PM

Speedbump47 pls keep us notified.
Considering the fact that I used express shipping, are they obliged to deliver
in a timely manner? Still, no phone call, no email reply. I'm getting angry now.

11-17-2000, 05:28 PM
mine's from cupertino. i need to test it soon since it just came in it's original pkging and i'm worried about damages. :(

11-17-2000, 05:30 PM
It's official (at least from what I got):

We've been shafted. I went down there, and spoke to someone on the phone (from their lobby). They are out of the HRS9600 vcrs, and will NOT be getting anymore. They apologize to us, and assured me that my card had not been charged (like that was what I was worried about).

Apparently, from what this guy told me (he's the head of CS, since I asked for his supervisor and he said it was him), they send their weekend orders to their distributor on Monday in one file. It's up to the distributor to handle it from there. Apparently this distributor chooses people at random or something.

He also said that they might (he didn't know) have put priority on lower volume orders. I ordered 2, and he pretty much alluded to the fact that since I was going to resell the VCRs (which I wasn't), I might have been placed on lower priority, despite my earlier ordering status.

I also expressed my dissatisfaction with the fact that I couldn't get through once in the past 3 days (despite trying, literally, every 30 minutes or so), and that I got no response after leaving and email and 3+ voicemails. I explained how suspicious it was that one day the voicemail is full, the next it isn't. That meant that either someone listened to the messages, and didn't care to respond, or just purged them. Either way....not a good thing to do. I also stated I was unhappy that I had to come down here to talk to someone...to which he replied that no one forced me to.

Overall, a highly dissatisfying conversation and resolution. I finally asked to have one of the directors call me back or email me so I could submit my concerns. We'll see if they have the balls to get in touch with me.

Speedbump, thank you for a valiant effort. You hit several good nails right on the head and I'm sorry to hear about the bad methodology and attitude of the distributor.

My own situation is now confused. When I check at their website, it first says "Contact Customer Service" (which I tried to do but of course I can't get through, and anyway it's Saturday and I think they are closed), but when I go to the order detail it says "Shipped 11/17/00". However, when I check my credit card statement online, this transaction has not yet been charged. Maybe "Shipped" is another word for "Canceled"?

I still don't even have THAT :-) Still "pending" for me.

Depending on whether on not someone actually responds to me by early this week, I'm going to send them a complaint email.

If you want me to email you a copy of what I write, just drop me a note.

11-18-2000, 06:17 PM
do they have fax#, I will spam them with faxes since they dont answer my e-mails and phone calls.

Contact Info (http://www.audiohighway.com/library/company.asp?SecStr=CONTACT)

Has the contact info for AudioHighway, the parent company of MassMerchandise.

Speedbump, I'd be more interested in their reply. Please post it here when (or if) it comes.

Well, here's a good reason why me may not hear from anyone at MassMerchandise:

News (http://yahoo.cnet.com/news/0-1005-200-3725282.html?pt.yfin.cat_fin.txt.ne)

Don't know whether to be happy or sad.

Kinda puts a new spin on reasons why we're having so much difficulty.

I got my MS722 MD player a couple days ago. Pretty quick shipping.

11-20-2000, 02:52 PM
My order still says "shipment pending" is this the same for everyone else?

11-20-2000, 03:24 PM
Well I ordered the 3600 on Tuesday. All last week the order status was pending and I couldn't get anyone at MM to answer my emails or voice messages. But I just checked a few minutes ago and it says that it's shipped. So fingers crossed: hope I get it and hope it doesn't turn out to be a piece of junk. :)

11-20-2000, 04:30 PM
my order still was not shipped, tried faxing them but fax# doesnt work always busy damn I am so pissed

11-20-2000, 05:02 PM
My order status has now changed to "Shipped." I am no longer being prompted to "Contact Customer Service."

Over the weekend, the same low-end JVC digital camcorder that I ordered (GR-DVS10 or whatever) for $300 from this site, was advertised in a circular for $400.

Since this camcorder is believed to be a refurb from this site, if true, that makes this deal not as hot as previously thought. (If it interests anybody, the circular was from 6th Avenue Electronics in New Jersey--not a vendor I trust, but YMMV.)

11-20-2000, 05:06 PM
Both the JVC 3600 and 9600 have SVHS ET which allows you to record super vhs quality on regular tapes. The only drawback is if you want to share the tapes with someone else, they need a player that has the same circuitry.

Using a Sima SCC I can make some pretty good tapes of dvd's on my older JVC 4500 which has the same circuitry.

The biggest difference with the 9600 is it has a digital comb filter which makes both tapes and broadcast signals that go through the vcr look much better. I think it also has digital noise reduction.

About the transport, they are definitely noisy and require a light touch when you insert tapes.

Seeing as how everyone is suddenly getting their stuff "shipped", I'm wondering if I had misunderstood what everyone was complaining about.
Was there anyone but me who ordered the HRS9600 vcrs, had an order number below 10580, AND did not get them?

Seems like a few of you who I thought were in the same boat as me ordered camcorders and other equipment. Just wanted to clarify for my own sake when I go complain.

11-20-2000, 06:30 PM
I ordered the 9600 as well as the low-end camcorder. Order number 1053x.

11-27-2000, 06:22 PM
I did receive the JVC GR-DVF10U camcorder today (the low-end one). There is nothing to suggest that this is a refurb, besides the "RB" designation that someone noted on the web site a couple of weeks ago. The JVC box it was packed in is white with blue-and-black printing on it. The SKU sticker on the box does not have an "RB". The contents of the box seem new to me, and a warranty card is included. Of course, none of this means that this ISN'T a refurb...but for the price, I'm satisfied.

I ordered the JVC 9600 VCR at the same time. Maybe that will come tomorrow.

Well I am not getting my cutrate 9600 either:( I bet they had hardly any at that price.

11-28-2000, 04:21 PM
Has anyone had any luck contacting this company? I placed my order within minutes of the post here, got a confirmation, and then one by one item cancellations so that I ended up with nothing, yet people who ordered after me (people in my office who ordered 2 days later) have received all the items which were cancelled on me. Calls to Mr. Martinez at the number he sent via email reach a full voicemail box, and email is simply not returned. I've called the audiohighway numbers as well and can't get a live person.

11-28-2000, 06:11 PM
Sadly, I went through these motions a week or so ago. I too ordered early on (at least earlier than those who got it). Couldn't get them on phone, email, etc., so I went in person to their offices.

Spoke to Mr. Martinez, and got the run-around I expected. Wrote them a nice letter, to which I've received no response save for the mass cancellation notice.

Oh well.....I'd say give up and count your losses.

BTW, Audiohighway announced massive layoffs 2 weeks ago (18th), laying off 21 of 30 employees.

Puts things in perspective

 :frown: :disgust:

massmerchandise.com said they shipped me a camcorder and a VCR on November 17. I received the camcorder on the 27th; I still have not received the VCR. The web site does not provide a tracking number, and nobody picks up the phone or replies to voice- or e-mail messages. Those b*stards have my money and will not talk to me!

Steve :|

11-30-2000, 09:29 PM
Wow.....that sucks. I would have thought they wouldn't have charged you.
What I'd try is hitting 0, getting to their corporate phone directory, and getting the extension of someone in customer service.

If you can't do that anymore, please email me:

*email removed* Post if you want it again

and I can send you the extension that I used when I went down there.

11-30-2000, 11:45 PM
Great oportunity for you. Since you can't fight a portion of the charge, just fight the charge with your credit card company and let them get the price of the camcorder later, if they get around to it. They have so few employees it will probably be a while, if ever.

12-01-2000, 11:15 PM
I sent the vendor a very firm e-mail last night, as their voice mail box is again full and not accepting more messages. This evening they replied:

We were unable to ship the vcr to you as we sold out. We have credited this item and shipping to your card.

So they billed but didn't ship the item. There oughta be a law. Guess that brings this "hot" deal to a close.
