View Full Version : Seagate 160gb External HDD makes random beeping noises

It happens randomly a few times when the drive is turned on, then remains silent for a long time. It might happen again later. I don't have to be accessing the drive in Windows for it to happen.

What gives?

A beep? Does the drive come with some sort of speeker to indicate troblems? Are you sure its the drive?

I'm positive it's the drive. Dunno about a speaker though

my old ibm t23 hd does that

I just think it's the heads moving (searching)
it's been doing that sound for years now lol
