View Full Version : Real Player sucks. Is there an alternative?
I hate Real Player because of the annoying advertisements that it spawns in my taskbar. I don't want to infect my new computer with this program. Are there any alternatives for playing real audio files? I kind of doubt it because it is a proprietary compression algorithm, but we are finally seeing alternative PDF tools, so the patent on some of these things must be running out soon.

The aptly named Real Alternative (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm).

Looking for a Real Player alternative, eh? Have you tried Real Player Alternative?
A simple google reveals results:

thanks. I didn't think of using alternative as the keyword. I was stuck in "Real Player Free" which just kept coming back to Real Networks freeplayer stuff.

No idea, I don't use iTunes. Although Trillian always complains that it wants QuickTime (without having QTA or normal QT installed) and it works with QTA.
