I have 3700 San Diego running at 2.6Ghz. I am usually into gaming and work with graphic suites such as photoshop and illustraor. light multitasking at the most..
do you think going to raptor HDD in raid-0 yields more performance boost than going to x2 4600+ (or 4800)?

I'd go for the raptors and overclock the cpu if you havn't already. X2 isn't worth the upgrade untill prices get cut IMO (july 24th?) especially if you don't do a ton of multitasking. The San diego cores overclock well.

I agree, with your usage upgrading to an X2 won't do much. Your best upgrade would be ram or HD. If your planing on eventually going AM2 or Conroe, HD would be the way to go. But for pure performance with your usage increasing to 2gb ram would be the best bang for the buck.
The raptors will give you better load times on large maps, and large drawings but not much more.

are you ordering the 16mb raptors or the older 8mb buffer ones?

AFAIK even a 3700+ at stock should be more than enough for most/all games at any setting(you aren't going to exceed 1280*1024 or 1600*1200 MAX, right?)

What kind of performance boost would you see by going raptors in raid? what apps would give you the biggest boost in performance?
I purchsed a raptor not to long ago and im so glad i did. Everything loads faster then previous 7200 rpm Hd, Moast programs load faster and that makes me a happy man.
