View Full Version : Battlefield 2 with 512mb ram

A friend of mine has the following specs:
Celeron D 2.53 GHZ
512MB RAM
6600GT AGP video card

Can this play in a 64 player room, or even at all with any sized room?

Ouch... if he's really lucky, MAYBE, but don't expect very good performance.

As long as you don't go with a high resolution(I would stick with 1024x768 or even 800x600), and don't mind mid to low settings, it will run.

yeah pretty much what stevty says, your mainly confined to low settings when playing on mulitplayer. You can bump the settings alittle in single player...
I run bf2 on my p4 2.4ghz with a 6600gt and 512mbs of ram on 1280 by 1024 with everything on low except for geometry. In single player i can turn up some of the settings and some AA but thats about it. But on mulitplayer it runs pretty smooth on 64 player servers except for the occasional stutter.

As long as you run at low to lowest settings, at 1024X768 res or lower, it should be perfectly playable even on 512MB of memory.

Yeah, that will run it, but playing is a different story

Seriously though, ive played it on another system that has a 5200fx in it, and it certainly was not pretty, but it did it. (that system also had 1.5gb RDRAM and a 2.8ghz Northwood)

I play it just fine on all med. settings and at 1280*1024. It gets jittery at times, but thats because I only play on 64 player maps.

yes, i played it like that before i got 1gb. but, you will have to reduce the settings below your video card's capacity. so, it will be a waste of video card. i have a 6600gt too. when i got 1gb i could turn up the resolution and AA more.

Yeah your RAM will be bottlenecking your video card. 512MB RAM is pretty cheap.

Same answer the OP got, turn everything down in the settings and keep the resolution low and you should eb able to play but it wont be pretty and might stutter a bit.
