The other day, I was walking back from the Dining Center on Campus, and my friends took some silverware from the place.

Now that I think about it, Spoons, forks and knives are some of few things that don't depreciate in value. (especially compared to computers)

What else can you guys think of? Maybe Ramen Noodles?

That's not really true, in the past month or so, oil has slipped nearly $10 a barrel.

Aside from real estate, highly desireable camera lenses in good condition tend to hold their value very well.

You'll lose some value, but it's not terrible.

I can point to at least one county in my state where the average real estate values went down. (rather than up as everyone seems to think is a 100% certainty)

Everything depreciates in value eventually, but a few things have short periods of appreciation, and then depreciation. Games that are hard to find: Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, Chrono Trigger, Metal Slug AES, Suikoden, etc. Collectible trading cards and beanie babies will usually go up in value when supply gets really low and demand is still high, but those types of items take a huge hit much more quickly than other items will. Some classic cars, certain types of antiques, original works of art. A fairly decent list can be made.

Land can depreciate. Take a look at Haiti for instance; massive deforestation, claimed un-restorable by environmentalists. Over time the land will erode more and more and eventually be worthless.
