I also remember laughing pretty hard at one skit where there was a "live" news report and terrible (or whacky) things kept happening, like killer clowns on PCP and escaped inmates.

Then there's the NBC's Story of Jesus skit with Cuba Gooding Jr, Will Ferrell, and Horatio Sanz.

The Census sketch.

Census-Taker: Well, you work part-time. How many days of the week?

Mr. Leonard: Every day.. but just part of the day. From 9 to 5.

Census-Taker: So, you work a full day?

Mr. Leonard: I wouldn't say that. There are huge chunks of time.. at night.. where I'm just asleep. For hours. It's ridiculous.

Census-Taker: Alright, let me go over this again, then. You are a convicted criminal, living alone in an apartment with a bobcat. And you work 56 hours a week as a street performer.
Mr. Leonard: When you say it like that, my life sounds pretty damn good!

Mr. Leonard: I have dual-citizenship with the United States and Florida.
Census-Taker: Florida is a part of the United States. Mr. Leonard: Don't push your politics on me, pal.

Census-Taker: ( examining 'passport' ) Alright.. this is a novelty birthday card. And it says, "You're over the hill. Here's a passport to Florida." This is not a real passport.
Mr. Leonard: I don't know.. you know? Whenever I go to Florida, I show it at the border, and they always let me in!

Census-Taker: Listen, Mr. Leonard. A real passport wouldn't have a picture of a sexy nurse on it. This is a joke card.

Mr. Leonard: Well.. it's a hell of a forgery!

I can't believe that no one's mentioned Steve Martin's King Tutt skit. It was such a funny and insightful take on the hype surrounding the US tour of the exhibit that it actually became a hit record. I'm old enough to remember it...

The other skit I always like to see is the "discrimination against the mentally handicapped" skit. The guest host (don't remember who) gets the names crossed up, and one Glida Radner (playing the mentally retarded person) absolutely skewers her.

Also, I like the Metro Card skit with Rosanne Barr.

Anyone remember the one where Akroyd plays the refrigerator repairman who comes over to fix the fridge?

Edit: I loved the Star Wars/Jaws audition with Spacey also.

Saying a skit from the last 10 years is the funniest ever is like saying the funniest Simpsons was last year. You may have laughed, but it wasn't in the same league...

I've watched a lot of the old ones, and I really don't find them funny at all. The humor has become a lot more sexual over the years, but I'd say my favorite years would be the Chris Farley/David Spade/Adam Sandler/etc years.

Best Sketch Ever: Van down by the river
Best Weekend Update: Norm MacDonald
Worst Sketch Ever: Tie between those obnoxious cheerleaders and Mango

My Top 5 in no particular order:

The Bad News Bees - "Coach is buzzing off!!"

Richard Pryor/Chevy Chase job interview - "Dead Honky!!"

Samurai Hotel - "Your Mamasan!!"

Fred Garvin: Male Prostitute - "I have a work order here which specifies that I am to roger you roundly till 6:15 tomorrow morning."

Josh Ramsey: V.D. Caseworker - "Boy, my ***** sure hurts when I urinate."

From that sketch:

Josh: Let me understand you here, okay? You're still making films where you have sex with actors?

Sara: Oh, honey, they're not actors. They couldn't act their way out of a paper bag! They're just, like, hustlers and transients with huge dongs, it's not a big deal.
