Hello,
I've got this problem with memory on the older Intel D815EAAL board: I don't seem to have luck to install 256MB DIMM's. I tried several chips in the past, but none worked.
I went multiple times through the memory config. guide for this board, and still no luck. Either the system will not boot, or will boot but will crash later.
I'm trying to install 2 identical 256MB chips, marked as 32x64 PC133 CL3 unbuffered with eprom (Legacy Electronics Inc. brand - OEM). They are double sided with 8chips each side.
I tested these modules in other board (K7S5A), and they are fine. The memory is recognized in BIOS. It should run at 100MHz, since CPU is 100Mhz fsb type (Coppermine 850MHz)... I use DIMM 0 and 1 as suggested in the guide, want to upgrade to supported max. of 512MB total.
I have the memory auto-configured (under Maintenance menu), didn't try to configure manually, should I?
What is the problem? Is the memory density/configuration wrong for this board?
Thx for any help.
dave
